We're trying to make Edmonton for people to get around! Check out our advocacy work at yegbike.info and our calendar of events from across the local cycling community at yegbike.info/events
83 Avenue keeps coming up in the survey: ✔️ protection from traffic ✔️ access to Whyte Ave ✔️ a route people can rely on year-round. Safe routes give people the confidence to ride! Which route helps you feel safe? Let us know: tally.so/r/Y5vvN0
While the Province seeks greivances, we're seeking positivity. We know safe mobility options make getting to work, attending school, getting groceries, visitng care providers, and many other types of trip possible. We will be sharing early results soo, so add you voice now: buff.ly/8TvwT29
The weather is looking perfect for Friday! We hope to see you at Critical Mass #yegbike. www.eventbrite.ca/e/bike-month...
Even the people who work on Vision Zero often do not build the safest option. There are examples of explicitly unsafe options being built, even on 'Safe Mobility' projects. Even in #yeg, even after 10 years of being 'committed to' Vision Zero.
Join us tonight for Bikes & Beverages tonight, from 5-7pm (at least)! We had to move the location to Arcadia - sorry about the last minute change and for any inconvenience. Details are here: www.eventbrite.ca/e/1989922917... #tegbike
The High Level Bridge is closed to cyclists and pedestrians! Work is expected to last until Wednesday, but we would not be surprised to see it extend beyond that. edmonton.citynews.ca/2026/07/20/r... #yegbike
At least 65 people showed up to our ride on 50st. People want safe infrastructure, and we want the minister to stop causing division to distract from the UCP's various scandals. Separation from traffic, not separation from Canada. I #yegbike
The government of Alberta has released a tool to allow residents to alert them of concerns relating to bike lanes. It is very fair & balanced. Check it out here: buff.ly/y4XiDpw #yegbike
Great post by the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment! Cycling is a great way to stay healthy! Every trip by bike that replaces a trip by motor vehicle improves air & water quality, providing benefits for everyone, including those who do not cycle. buff.ly/7t0yWXV #yegbike
Join us tonight for Ward Metis Rides! Meet at Forest Terrace Heights Community League at 6:30 for a fun bike ride around the neighbourhood. All are welcome, whether you live in the ward or not! #yegbike #yeg #yegevents
The motion passed. Thank you to @jonmorganyeg.bsky.social @erinrutherford.bsky.social and Jo-Anne Wrigth for trying to defeat this motion. Edmonton taxpayers now get the privelage of paying $2.5M so that 30 people can part there cars for free.
That's possible. The centre median is quite wide, so there is a refuge for drivers making the lefts, and the two directions of vehicle traffic are fully separated. The city has used bidirectional bike lanes in busier places without refuges. It's not impossible, but unidirectionals are safer.
We are excited to see a proper, protected bike lane connecting the existing network to Gold Bar Park. There are few north-south river crossings in this area, so this will fill a key gap in the network.
A protected active transportation route is planned for 50 Street, from 101 Avenue to just north of Gold Bar Park Road. Construction is planned for 2026. Here is what is changing, why some residents are concerned, and why we support the project. www.edmonton.ca/projects_pla...
So 3 different vehicles hit the high level bridge this morning while we were at coffee outside. Close the bridge to traffic and prioritize people. #yegbike
It already does: pub-edmonton.escribemeetings.com/filestream.a... and edmontonjournal.com/news/local-n...
Tomorrow's Bike to the Bridge event has been postponed due to heavy rain warnings! @ashleysalvador.bsky.social @edmontonanne.bsky.social @michaeljanz.bsky.social
We are biking into Hawrelak Park at 530 along side Kira, who is finishing a 1600km cycling journey from Yellowknife! Join us at 5 at Hawrelak, picnic site 2. #yegbike #yegevents
Critical mass is back this month, the fancy women are riding this Sunday, and we're headed to the ball game for pride night tomorrow! Check out all the events still planned for Bike Month: buff.ly/3br81Tr #yeg #yegevents #yegbike
We are riding to support Cassie + Friends, a charity dedicated to helping children and families living with juvenile arthritis and other childhood rheumatic diseases. Join us on June 15 as we welcome Kira to #yeg, by riding with us or joining us at the finish line! www.eventbrite.ca/e/ride-with-...
This is a strong motion by @michaeljanz.bsky.social and it was carried!
#yeg needs Safe Mobility funding — but not a blank cheque. 10 years into #visionzero, deaths and serious injuries are rising much faster than traffic volumes. Council should fund safety, but demand data, better standards, stronger enforcement, and accountability. buff.ly/94omAna #yegbike
The calendar is packed for Bike Month: group rides, festivals, social events, volunteer opportunities, and thousands of people choosing to get around by bike. Now City Hall needs to do its part. open.substack.com/pub/yegbike/... #yegbike #yegevents
It's pedal poll week, have you signed up for a shift? Pedalpoll.app #yegbike
It's a busy weekend #yegbike, with events tonight, a lot more tomorrow, and a few things on Sunday. Way too much to list here, but check out the calendar for details! Yegbike.info/events
Our team in Ward Métis are starting a new group ride, kicking off with warm weather tonight! Bring your family, friends, or come solo for a fun ride. All are welcome. And if you picked up a new bike at the Bike Swap this weekend, this is the perfect excuse to take it out. #yegbike #yeg #yegevents
