O.O Playing with rendering orbit lines and 2d representations of the heavenly bodies.
WHOA WHAT, there's over 500 of y'all now?!? Thank you for the support! It's still early stages but I can now smooth(ish)ly load and fly between as many planets as I want. Only one planet is ever loaded and distant ones will be represented with imposters.
Finally caught a thunderstorm in-game while testing the terrain! Still lots of particle work to do to really make it read as rain but the framework is in place!
Last post I swear LOOK ITS LIKE A REAL USEABLE EDITOR NOW WOWEEEEE imsohappyitworkssssssss
Can't wait to start modeling the actual tiles, instead of literally just using cubes right now. I cant wait to start making some sick planets using this editor.
Haha lotsa debug lines and colors. The white are the first pass triangles, the yellow are triangles without and shared edges, and the orange are quads. The tiny colored lines show shared edges.
About to start a full rewrite of my core planet system, which will give me much more control over individual structures of the planet's terrain and allow me to build planets within godot. Time to harness my inner @oskarstalberg.bsky.social I'm not great with proc gen stuff >_<
Just finished three more job applications today before scrolling bsky for a bit; yup this about sums up how I'm feeling..
Hmmm, I think I came up with a really neat way to calculate directional audio for all my sdf based effects. Rain, water, ambient stuff.
Playing with the atmosphere shader again. Added in some sun halos/rainbows! Their visibility even changes with the rain/cloud coverage.
