On a #SciAmTravel trip to Iceland for the eclipse. Had an amazing day today seeing puffins, black sand beaches and glacial waterfalls.
Chaperoned the 5yo’s camp trip to the Transit Museum. I love the old subway ads and of course said “Hi” to the old issue of @sciam.bsky.social there.

The heat wave has broken and Jack can once again look out his window. (This room gets shut off when the heat gets bad because we aren’t made of money.)
When you’re a dog who doesn’t love heat but still lays in the sun puddle on a 90-something degree day with no A/C. (We have a/c in the bedroom, he just has to be where I am and the TV for World Cup watching is in the living room.)

Something I wanted to highlight from the NWS forecast re: where the heaviest snow will be. Snow is notoriously tricky to predict b/c it's so temperature dependent and the bands of heavy snow are related to the smaller-scale internal dynamics of a storm, which are just harder for models to get. 🧪
Got enough of a dusting of snow last night that it kind of covers up some of the grossness of the snow piles.
