A drawing of some items: A diamond ring with a snake design - a flint knife wrapped with string - a gold chain with small gold bees - two clay toy dog figurines - a cup shaped like the head of a horse or donkey - a horse shaped candle holder - two crab apples - a votive loaf of bread (shaped like a hand) on a plate, with a bowl of salt and a lit candle.

Three small drawings: One of a shrine under a pine tree with a stone inside, one of a salamander on the forest floor, one of a coastal path with stone steps, two tall trees, stone columns and two hikers in the distance. The overall feel is very late summer to early autumn.

Forever indecisive about colours, the curse of photoshop

Three versions of the same drawing in different colours. A coastal path with stone steps and broken columns. Two tall trees by the side of the path. One version has small white flowers on a crisp sunny day - one has two hikers, and the weather is humid - one has a bird in it and looks autumnal.

I drew a few pictures for @stoutstoat.co.uk's new book Carved in Stone (www.stoutstoat.co.uk/products/car...) it's probably the best-researched project I ever worked on, and also it looks beautiful. Lots of amazing artists worked on this! Anyway here are some pictish vignettes

We found a November 2003 copy of The Times when tidying, and spotted this incredible piece of correspondence in the letters section:

Sir, I found that visitors to Germany in 1937 were required to preface an inquiry or purchase in a shop with the Nazi salute and a verbal "Heil Hitler!". As a child of nearly 11 years, I enjoyed giving the Hitler salute efficiently, but this did not meet with approval from the retired English colonel with whom we were travelling, especially when I saluted a group of Nazi soldiers who were staying in the same hotel.
In mixed German and English, the colonel boldly told them that it ws all nonsense, and that they had better salute me and say "Heil Winklepot!" (his variation of my nickname). Slightly abashed, they did this, but this was as nothing to the performance the following morning when I entered the breakfast room.
All of the uniformed Nazis rose as a man and gave the Hitler salute with a chorus of "Heil Winklepot!".
The incident was quoted throughout the rest of our journey, and when we reached Czechoslovakia I was given a glass ashtray engraved "Heil Winklepot!", which I have to this day.
