Astral Social Club, Futurist Bags, you know the score. Day job in a11y.
Very excited to be playing @thelubberfiend.bsky.social again, beautiful bill too!
The sound of my teenage years, still sounds great. Me and a pal spent a starstruck day hanging out with them at the Lyceum in 1983. Total sweethearts. My pal even got roped into their performance.
Playing my favourite little Todmorden space supporting old pal Marcia Bassett and Victoria Keddie next month. Might play some guitar.
I'm sitting in with my pals Natalia @sunkenhum.bsky.social and Willie Stewart a fortnight today in Tod. A right old ruckus, I'd imagine.
Astral Social Club playing at Awen33 in Bangor on 9th May on a bill with my old pal Herb Diamanté and the mighty Anxiolytics. Nice Godbert collage poster too.
Futurist Bags (me and Adam from Vibracathedral, plus our pal Paul Conrad) are playing a fundraiser at and for Bradford's mighty 1in12 Club weekend after next, 18 April. Been too long since we played out.
Dubbing up a small run of c30s to distribute at London and Brighton gigs in a few weeks. One 7min track each by TPS and ASC, then a glorious 15mins of strangeness by Julian and I together.
Ok, I give in. Not "dropping" anything, mind. Seeing SY in 1985 rewired my brain more than a little.
Looking forward to playing in Newcastle with the Vibracathedral in a couple of weeks. Been waaaaay too long since we were there.
Doing a little 2-date southern trip with my old pal and Vibracathedral comrade Julian in March. Saturday night in London, Sunday matinee in Brighton.
Finally picked up a copy of this earlier this week, after years of making do with a CD rip. Of dubious legality, but my favourite record of theirs and def Goddess Tier.
Oh yeah, couple of days before my Todmorden gig with K-Group I'm doing this in Leeds. First ASC gig for an eternity, totally hot to trot. Am definitely available for parties, weddings etc right now.
Any excuse to post pics of me in 1982 (my pal Dougie on the left, me on the right).
Had a fun time yesterday afternoon, first time I've spun records at Seven by Seven.
Finally got around to reading the JAMC book (thanks @kirkleeslibrary.bsky.social). Couldn't put it down - inspiring, bit sad at times, but above all funny af. Haven't laughed out loud at a book as much for ages. Fantastic work Ben Thompson for bringing the Reids' voices alive.
What perfect albums came out when you were 16? Loved these in 1982, still love them 43 (!) years later.
The Rare and Racy / Warp double whammy totally opened my ears to so many great things when I lived in Sheffield at the start of the 90s. Love those R&R stamps, and the prices!
And then a fortnight later we play in a beautiful room in beautiful Sheffield.
A few weeks til the Vibracathedral touch down in Bristol. Am very fond of Bristol.
Daniel O'Sullivan and @nofansrecords.bsky.social whipped up some magical music, furniture and otherwise, tonight in Manchester.
Great-looking Leeds gig next weekend that I'll miss through being in Manchester. Much love for Vasco Alves here (I believe he's in Manchester the following night, which I'll also miss ☹️).
Post a pic from a different era. Me watching my pals playing in Kettering, 1985.
4 quid well spent today I think. In no way have I even remotely got my head around Vangelis' discography, but I love how almost every record I have by him is totally different to the others. Kinda Beaubourg vibe on here tho, which pleases me.
