57 years ago today, the crew of Apollo 11 set out for the moon. Today, we're still reaching for the moon—and reaching for a nation united by the Constitution and the principles that make us great and go beyond the stars.

Upholding the rule of law is of the utmost importance, especially for the nation's top law enforcement officer. The next Attorney General has a constitutional obligation to faithfully commit to the principles enshrined in our Constitution.

As former astronauts, we know this truth: in spaceflight, you can't delegate critical decisions to someone else and hope for success. The same applies to democracy.  A bipartisan group of judges agrees with us that the rule of law in America is in danger.

Two fatal ICE shootings in less than a week demand accountability. The 14th Amendment protects due process and Congress has a constitutional duty to ensure it. We need action from our representatives for independent investigations, transparency, and a safety-first culture, now.

The members of Astronauts For America mourn the loss of Wally Funk, a trailblazer who showed generations of women and all Americans that barriers exist to be broken, and that dedication to one's mission is never too late.

250 years later, we recall this pivotal moment in our history—and understand that freedom isn’t free, and that the most important words in the Constitution—”We the People”—means we’re stronger united than we are divided.

The first public reading of the Declaration of Independence was read by Colonel John Nixon, on the steps of the State House in Philadelphia. People from all walks of life gathered to hear and celebrate the news of independence and freedom from Britain.

Today's Supreme Court decision is a victory for the Constitution and the enduring promise of the 14th Amendment. By reaffirming birthright citizenship, the Court has strengthened a constitutional principle that keeps the American Dream within reach for future generations.

Today, the Supreme Court ruled that mail-in ballots postmarked before but received within 5 days after Election Day must be counted. As astronauts, some of us cast our votes from space. This is an important step to ensure that astronauts and all eligible Americans can exercise their civil rights.

John Glenn's legacy reaches beyond space. As a senator, he built a reputation for integrity, pragmatism, and bipartisanship. He worked across party lines to advance science, accountability, and public trust in our government. We've gotta get back to that.

When @astro-g-dogg.bsky.social was a kid, he dreamed of becoming an astronaut. He co-founded Astronauts For America to keep that dream alive for all the other young people who feel called to serve and explore.
