Hey, I'm Josh, and among other things, I made the Star Trek Title Generator at trek.epicrandomness.com, and I run the Trans Rights Screenshot Generator. Be excellent to each other!
Anyway, I was a kid and didn't "get" Grey Hulk at the time and kind of fell off. I remember getting Hulk #333 and telling the checkout lady at IGA that I was going to stop because the Hulk was mean now.
It's been a long time coming, but I added Strange New Worlds to the generator today to kick off Season 4! Let me know if you run into any bugs, especially with the SNW "Metallic" font option. trek.epicrandomness.com
I made the Strange New Worlds version of the communicator today. It's by the same modeler as the TOS version, and it's neat and all... but it's not as fun or cool in my opinion. And the hinge is too rigid to flip open automatically.
I ended up making another one because both of my sons wanted one. I'm okay with this, because while they're not really into Trek, maybe this is the first step into fandom for... The Next Generation.
Ok, it's "done". Except the tolerances on the supports caused the gold part to be damaged, so I'm going to make a new one, but I still wanted to show what it would look like "complete" even if it's not "actually" assembled. Thanks for following along!
Assembling the pieces I can while the flippy part prints. The first time failed because of all the tiny holes. Fingers crossed. I may need to glue the oscillator. I like that I can actually turn it though. Well see how it fares when completed.
This one is boring, just some connectors (I hate 3d print rafts), and a panel plus one extra, just in case.
I didn't know the official name for this part, so let's call it a potentiometer or just a "moire pattern oscillator"
I saw a Reddit post today where the poster misspelled Mephisto as Memphisto, and my brain immediately pictured Mephisto as an Elvis Impersonator. Here's my incredibly crudely traced rendition of that.
Since the creator of the Minions has said that there isn't evidence of female minions, but Wendy's has one in their current kids' meal, does that mean the "Wendy's Minion" is trans?
A YouTuber, who I won't name, whose writing I really admire, and who has a lot of the same interests as me, used a generative AI backdrop of a comic store for the background. This person has called out AI in the past, so it could be a mistake, but it was incredibly jarring to see.
I thought you all might like to see my other pixelated comic covers from way back when. Of course, if I did them now, I'd do a lot differently. I stole the Superman logo from the NES game, and I'd totally use a different font for Spidey's dialog and completely redraw Hulk, I still dig 'em, though.
I love this logo. Waaaaay Back in the day, I made a faux 8-bit version, and a vecotrized version of a slightly updated version, but @starfleetdesign.bsky.social's take is much better/more accurate tot the source.
I got reminded of a project I started, but never finished. I wanted to make fridge magnets of every Amazing Spider-Man corner box. I only ever made Ditko's headshot and Romita's take on the same. Maybe I should revive the project.
I wish I had 3d modelling skills. I just had a fun idea to make a Kazoo shaped like the Enterprise. It wouldn't be practical at all, but it'd be fun. I sketched out a mockup.
Ok, This @eriklarsen.bsky.social cover for Amazing Spider-Man #1000 is pretty great. It's still quintessentially Larsen, but I love the Ditko-y feel to it, too.
I added DS9 to my media server, and I think I need to change the default images that were scraped, because damn, are Quark's eyes and nose messed up. There are other inaccuracies, such as Odo's uniform not matching the timeline of the other characters. Time to look for a better one.
Every summer, we have a parade locally for Flaming Gorge Days. I had to cover it today, which was fine, but one float got the constitution VERY wrong, and it hurts a bit. I feel like a lot of wrong-headed people would think it's correct, though. The word you're looking for is WELFARE, not WARFARE!
Does anyone know if there's a way to make DIY vintage-style Puffy Stickers like these? If there's a way, I could make sooooo many cool ones.
It is supremely satisfying when you're playing Marvel Snap, someone is goading you into snapping, and non-stop emoting. And you read them so well, you're like: "Sure, I'll snap." Then you destroy their win by a single point. And, you do just a single emote back, and it's this one:
Today, for my real life job, I covered the open house our local landfill had. It was cool, like an adult field trip, but the coolest part was these vintage McDonaldLand playground pieces, they've had them for years. (The manager told me someone stole their Hamburglar though). Of course I took pics.
I'm... not in a good headspace right now. Pardon this, I'll be ok in a bit.
Looking at older installments, the Edosian (Chef Zox) is drawn correctly with 3 arms and 3 legs. So who knows at this point? Maybe it was artistic license.
