A prolonged period of dangerous heat is expected across much of California from 10:00 a.m. Friday through 10:00 p.m. Sunday. High temperatures can increase the risk of heat-related illness and create conditions that make it easier for wildfires to start & spread.
Arson is a crime — and CAL FIRE investigators are working to hold those responsible accountable. Through July, CAL FIRE law enforcement officers have made 84 arson arrests.
Coordinated attack on the Gann Fire CAL FIRE is conducting a coordinated attack on the Gann Fire, utilizing both air and ground resources to aggressively contain the fire. As of this morning, more than 2,700 personnel are assigned to the incident.
CAL FIRE Aircraft Deliver Critical Support on the #GannFire In less than 48 hours since the start of the Gann Fire, air tankers and helicopters have delivered over 491,000 gallons of water and 234,000 gallons of retardant. Aircraft are one component of CAL FIRE’s coordinated firefighting effort.

Protecting lives includes puppies. 🐶 Earlier this month, while fighting the 3-1 Pit Fire in Lassen County, a CAL FIRE crew member found six puppies in the fire area. The uninjured puppies were brought to a supervisor and transferred to a local shelter, where they began receiving care.
Six new ALERTCalifornia cameras are now online in Tulare County, strengthening our ability to detect wildfires faster and respond sooner. Faster detection helps us respond sooner and supports our goal of keeping 95% of wildfires at 10 acres or less.
🔥 Ever wonder how wildfires get their names? It's not about size or severity: it's about location. The first responding agency names the fire, usually after nearby roads. The name must be simple, unique, and appropriate. It may also be named after significant creeks, ridges, or landmarks.
