Having worked outdoors in Tokyo for the 2020 (2021) Olympics I can tell you there is a further issue, the "feels like" temperature is way way higher, just like here in the Dordogne thanks to the humidity. Every day in Haneda felt over 40oC even when 30oC. On 02.08.2021 it was 35oC "feels like 47oC".

The support was Mick Hucknall's, The Frantic Elevators, who often played in Liverpool & at Brady's when it was called Eric's, as Roger Eagle was a big fan. Eric's was closed by the Police at the end of March 1980 and Brady's was it's replacement a few months later.

Rest in Peace Peter J. Polturak, I hope you'll agree, using your famous quote "best ever", that was the "best ever" funeral, you'd have loved your funeral today at St Michael's.
Incredible organisational work by Debbie, big thanks and commiserations to children Adam & to Lucy for talking about her Dad & also Val for talking about her younger brothers early life, everyone summed up Pete's character and child like love for life.
Without Pete, I doubt I'd have gotten into cycling in such a big way, cycling 80-100 miles every week going to North Wales or Winter Hill midweek in the late 80's & early 90's and I wouldn't have started the weekly Club Cycling club rides at Cafe Village in Trémolat, Dordogne 2 year ago.
Pete was always fun to be with, the "best ever" bike ride, the "best ever" meal, "best ever" adventure. He will be missed by all his family & friends

I hadn't planned to use my 1st post of my archive photos in such a a way, but Peter & I spent a lot of time together, he was a poser way before mobile phones & instagram & Tik Tok, it was easy to get a good photo of him. Thanks for the memories Pete.

A Crytal Day was a day of events the Bunnymen put together to make a unique gig experience and day, registration took place at Brian's Diner on Stanley Street & a bike ride, a banane fight on the Mersey Ferries were part of the events of the day. Channel 4 also filmed a play at home special "life at Brian's" and there is also a video of the concert which is on YouTube & the tube did A Crystal Day special, all on YouTube

45 years ago 14.01.1981 New Order played Mr Pickwicks in Liverpool, with a very strange supporting cast including "man in a coffin", badgeroo & the badgerettes, Send No Flowers & Section 25, they had played around 10-12 low key gigs, following the death of Ian Curtis, in 1981 they would release the first single Ceremony in March, Dreams Never End & the LP Movement, which is the set that they played this night. I took my Mum'a 110 camera along as I wanted to catch memories of the the gigs I'd seen.

The Redskins at the "Jobs For A Change Festival" courtesy of the GLC at the South Bank in London, this photo was taken before a load of Nazi sympathising skinheads jumped up on the stage and started fighting with the band, fortunately the road crew and others intervened and they ran off after also "zeig heilling" on the stage.
A few hours earlier there was hundreds of far right skinheads near the river, something I'd never witnessed before and it was a bit scary, it looked like they were waiting to kick off. Funnily enough when the stage invasion started and where these skinheads congregated, there were no members of the met nearby, but loads everywhere when they weren't! That's my recollection anyway.
It was a bit scary when I was down the front and the skinheads jumped on stage and started fighting and a lot of the audience quite rightly legged it, however before Ken Livingstone introduced The Smiths, it was heaving.
