Last year, I called on Cork City Council, the NTA and the Department of Transport to introduce the 90-minute Leap fare for Cork. From 20 July, it becomes a reality. This is a big win for affordable, integrated public transport. Now let's extend it to our commuter rail network.

I was also honoured to welcome a group of residents from Moneygourney who attended the Council meeting last night to witness the vote on the proposed rezoning of Site SS01 SE2 in Moneygourney. I am deeply disappointed that the motion passed and that the rezoning will now proceed.

I joined fellow Cork councillors at City Hall yesterday to show our support for Bessborough following last week's shocking news. We gathered outside City Hall ahead of the final Council meeting before the summer recess, standing in solidarity with all those affected.

I joined the Moneygourney Community Protest Walk. This protest is not against development. We are asking for better planning. I encourage my Councillors colleagues to vote against this rezoning at the next Council meeting. Let's fix the place before bringing people in & save this green belt.

I officially joined and became a member of Douglas Tidy Towns at their AGM held in Doulas Community Centre today. It was great meeting with Sean Leddy, Chairman and Ken Rooney, new secretary, ss well as my colleague Cllr Dan Boyle who attended the AGM.

I was delighted to welcome European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Taoiseach Micheál Martin to Cork City Council yesterday. As Ireland takes on the EU Presidency for the next six months, I wish Micheál Martin every success in this important role.

Last Saturday, we celebrated the 35th Birthday in Council of my inspiring fellow Cllr Dan Boyle. Honestly, 35 years is not 35 days. It is a long journey filled with love, courage, resilience, and determination. It was an honour to serve as your Deputy Lord Mayor 2024-2025. Happy 35th Birthday, Dan!

It was with heavy heart that I attended the Bessberro Commemoration yesterday. I was proud to be part of this fantastic traffic and parking team, helping families, survivors, friends, and visitors to park safely at the site.

It was an honour to pay tribute to Cllr Ted Tynan at Cork City Council in May. Ted's encouragement meant a great deal to me from my first days in the Council. His commitment to working people, his community, & his unwavering solidarity with the people of Palestine have been a real inspiration.

I'm calling for action to improve safety at the entrance to Silverdale during Cork Constitution match days. Simple changes to the junction, together with better traffic management involving the Council, Gardaí and Cork Constitution, can help keep access clear for residents and emergency vehicles.

This week I visited Pic Du Jer Close after residents contacted me about the poor condition of their roads and footpaths. People living in the same estate deserve the same standard of infrastructure. I've brought a motion to Cork City Council calling for action.

I was delighted to attend the Commissioning Ceremony of the 64th Cadet Class at the Naval Base in Haulbowline today. I would like to congratulate and welcome you as the newest leaders in our service. Thanks to all the staff at the Naval School. Wear your uniforms with pride and distinction.

Residents in Greenvalley have made one thing clear to me. They don't want expensive delays. They want safer streets now. This week I visited the area after concerns were raised about speeding traffic. Simple, affordable traffic calming measures can make a real difference without waiting years.

Great to visit this impressive solar farm at Ballinrea, overlooking Cork City this week. Projects like this show how we can tackle the energy crisis, reduce electricity costs, and build a cleaner, more secure future. We need to see more renewable energy projects like this across Cork and Ireland.

Back in May, during Cork City Council's debate on the proposed material contravention of the City Development Plan relating to Marina Park and Páirc Uí Chaoimh, I voted against the proposal.

At Cork City Council, I supported the motion on Irish unity because I believe that when people come together around a shared vision, we are stronger. Whatever our backgrounds or perspectives, respectful dialogue and democratic engagement will always be essential to shaping our future.

At Cork City Council, I proposed that Ireland support making Europe Day a shared public holiday across the EU, recognising the values that bring Europeans together and our shared future. Cork is a proud European city, and I believe we should lead by example.

Every empty building is a missed opportunity. At Cork City Council, I welcomed the progress being made to create a more vibrant and liveable city, while reminding us that tackling dereliction must remain a priority.

How many times have Cork commuters been left waiting for a bus that never arrived? This May at Cork City Council, I called for a bold new conversation about creating a Cork Bus service. One that is locally managed, accountable to the people of Cork, & designed around the needs of our growing city.
