One year ago, the presidential administration launched a manufactured intrusion on the District – seeking to federalize our local Metropolitan Police Department and deploying the National Guard.

Logan Circle is a beautiful park and gathering space for many in our community — I’m thrilled that NPS has restored the Circle with repairs to the statue, repaved the walkways, installed a new irrigation system, replaced the grass, installed new benches, lights, and a water fountain.

All DC residents deserve to age with dignity in an environment that works best for them. It was so great to meet with residents from our Senior Villages and Inspir Embassy Row to hear about issues impacting our seniors.

Financial security & housing stability are essential to the dignity that our veterans and their families deserve. I want to thank the veterans who testified during the hearing to express the importance of my bill that would give 100 percent property tax exemption to disabled veterans living in DC.

School may be out for the summer but work to improve our schools for students and staff is ongoing as we prepare for the next school year!

Today, we wrapped up our final vote on the Budget Support Act. We passed many of the priorities I have fought for on your behalf including maintaining the Safe Commercial Corridors program, requiring rat proof public trash cans at newly renovated DCPS and DPR facilities...

Mabel Ping-Hua Lee was a Chinese American women’s rights activist who fought for the right of women to vote even though the discriminatory Chinese Exclusion Act prohibited her from casting a ballot herself.

Everyone deserves to live, work, and play in communities free from gun violence. In June, we recognize Gun Violence Awareness Month and honor the lives lost and those impacted by gun violence. We must continue to prioritize combatting gun violence across the District.

Meeting with constituents is the best way we come up with solutions to empower residents in the District together.

We must all get on the same page about supporting the safety and wellbeing of all of our young people. Our kids need the adults in the city to work together – collaboratively – for their safety and for their opportunities.

As budget season continues, I want to highlight several important upcoming budget mark-ups and votes for the Committee on the Judiciary and Public Safety.
