The Olympic Oval is the fastest ice on earth. It's also a community hub where Calgarians take their first skate, exercise and meet their heroes. Today, Governments of Canada and Alberta announced $52m to strengthen this institution and the athletes - new and elite - it supports.

Last Friday in Airdrie, I highlighted the increase to the Canada Child Benefit — more tax-free support to help parents with groceries, school supplies, clothes and child care. For nearly 500,000 Alberta families, that means more breathing room each month.

Great to be in Innisfail to see Alberta’s energy future being built firsthand. I visited Enhance Energy’s Clive facility, announced over $19.4M for 13 Alberta clean energy projects at EQUS, and toured Deep Sky Alpha’s impressive carbon removal technology taking excess CO₂ out of the atmosphere.

Great to tour SAIT’s Centre for Innovation and Research in Unmanned Systems and the Aldred Centre welding labs yesterday. Impressive to see the applied research, hands-on training, and industry-standard technology helping prepare Alberta’s workforce.

Great to stop by the Hillhurst Sunnyside Farmers Market today to highlight Canada’s new National Food Security Strategy—and I got to grab some local goodies while I was there! Supporting local producers and strengthening Canadian food production helps make good food more affordable for families.

Separatists want you to think the referendum is a cost-free way to pressure for the things Alberta wants. But 8 in 10 Calgary Chamber members already feel the debate's negative effects, and half would be likely to leave if Alberta votes to START the separation process.

Debating Alberta separation is not a no-risk proposition. The discussion divides people and drives away business. Calgary Chamber of Commerce members already feel the effects.

120 days a year, MPs walk through these doors on our way to the Chamber where we propose, debate and advocate for Canadians. A humbling responsibility. Glad to be back in Calgary after a productive session to continue the work at home. (Also, guess most of us are right-handed).

Alberta separatists tout secession as a way to take control. The reality is, a yes vote would mean a landlocked Alberta would be entering years of uncertain negotiations on everything from currency to passports to coastal access.

There's no brand like Canada's brand.

The Calgary Chamber - and the entire business community - is raising the alarm about continuing the conversation on separation. Separatist-driven uncertainty leads to "job losses, declining productivity and reductions in regional economic growth."

Alberta - and all of Canada - are set to boom in the coming years. Foreign direct investment in Canada is at its highest level in 18 years - and twice that of the next closest G7 country.

Alberta is at record oil production and the Canada-Alberta MOU brings people together on a common path for growth and environmental action.

The United States has a higher GDP than Canada, but the average Canadian is better off. As we grow wealth through new major projects and new trade agreements, let's continue to make sure we all benefit.

Great meeting this past Wednesday with my colleagues @eleanorolszewski.bsky.social & MP Matt Jeneroux, alongside Adam Legge of the Business Council of AB & Irfhan Rawji of MobSquad, for a productive discussion on major projects, regulatory predictability, investment, and Canada’s competitiveness.

It was wonderful to meet with UCalgary’s Graduate Students’ Association and Students’ Union this Tuesday to discuss how the federal government can best support postsecondary students, including undergraduate priorities, graduate research, and the important benefits such research brings to Canada.

Put up a flag, share pro-Canada content, make your own content. Some separatists might try to flood the conversation and discourage your voice. But be proud, and know you're in the majority. We didn't ask for this debate but let's be present in it - proudly, politely, firmly.

The Premier of Alberta intervened to lower the threshold for getting a separatist question on the ballot. She then intervened to eliminate a review requiring the question be constitutional. She intervenes again tonight after yet another court has told the separatists to slow down & follow the law. 🧵

On Thursday, I joined CIVIX at Discovering Choices to speak with students about democracy, Parliament and issues from affordability to AI. Youth engagement is essential to a healthy democracy, and I’m grateful for the chance to hear their perspectives and carry them into my work.

On Wednesday, I was honoured to announce over $3.3M for Indigenous-led public safety and crime prevention in Calgary, including AFCC’s Ahmahtoo’siim-ahkoohmsi (Smudge Vow) Project and USAY’s youth programming. These investments support healing, culture, Elders, community and safer pathways forward.

Today, I met with Norfolk Housing, The Alex, Calgary Housing, Onward Homes and CUPS to discuss opportunities to support more homebuilding in Calgary, including through skilled trades, low-cost rental loans, and efforts to modernize construction. Grateful for their work and partnership.

Yesterday at VizworX, I was happy to announce more than $9.3M through PrairiesCan’s Regional Defence Investment Initiative for 6 Calgary and Red Deer businesses helping advance made-in-Canada defence solutions, strengthen supply chains, grow adv. manufacturing, and build lasting economic strength.

The federal government is working everyday to build a stronger Canadian economy. We're diversifying our markets, building opportunities, and investing in all Canadians.

It was a pleasure meeting w/ Banff Mayor Corrie DiManno and Town Manager Kelly Gibson on Wednesday. We had a good conversation about the issues that matter to their community, from transportation, housing to wildfire prevention, and the role we all play in making Canada the best place in the world.
