#NIKKE Cinderella during the summer event was so cute, funny and sweet -- and she's actually a *lot* of fun to draw too. More to come, most likely!

Assorted monochromatic doodles and sketches of the speedy, sassy and sharp Miyabi, a rabbit anthro ninja girl. Dressed in a body suit with tactical vest(?) leg bands, arm and leg guards and a signature long red scarf, there's over 25 pics! In orange and blue, she runs, leaps, kicks, punches and taunts her opponents. In pink, she dresses up, strips down, hangs out and hacks mainframes in cute outfits or nothing at all. Along for the ride are a couple of doodles (in indigo and purple) of the busty Mizuki, flat-and-cute Matsuri -- and even yours truly's sona, CB!

A monochromatic sketch of two anthro goth girls getting down.
@Duckdraw's OC Buckly (blue) is a raccoon girl flipping off the viewer, while my own fox girl Freya (pink) drops her shirt and frenches with her new partner. Both are adorned in a variety of tattoos that decorate their torsos, with piercings as well. Buckly has Freya riding her thigh, and Freya presses her chest to Buckly's.

Helda strikes a dismissive pose as she summons a magic missile -- brilliant sparks of gold light from her hand. Helda herself is a cute, sassy, prissy looking beauty with red hair in big princess curls. Her dragon wings, horns and tail flare outward from her busty & healthy frame; tons of personality and poise despite her small size. She scorns an off-page opponent with her gaze and expression; bright violets, blues, reds and yellows all dominate the page.

A look at the start-to-finish on @mazinja.bsky.social 's #commission of his OC's Ouri & Diya. Interesting things happened with this one -- take a look at the alt text for details!

01: The sketch phase of the request.
Mazinja's ordered over *12* dragon girls from me over the years, so the chance to draw new ones, I always look forward to. That said, these two dingbats had serious design challenges to get over. A sheet like this helps break things down. Also, some customers REALLY like getting the extra sketches!

02: Initial draft.
Sometimes I get a good idea and run with the first try. Other times, I fiddle around and come up with a series for the customer to select. This is one of those times where the initial idea *seemed* great -- and really is a good pic on it's own, but something doesn't quiiiite feel right. Little pose nitpicks. Composition errors. Not enough room!? Doesn't quite capture the characters themselves?!

A good and patient customer gets not just the goods, but a little extra service...

03: "I Got A Better Idea!"
Oooooh, now THIS is "Ouri & Diya", per the customer's description, their design details and the previous sketching around. This hits -- a fun pose, composes nicely in the frame, looks super cute and very "them."
That said, it's still a tall order to have two characters in the frame, and could have serious issues in the build. But sometimes, I say, eff it.
If it's getting changed, it's all or nothing!

04: Finish!
And here's the result! Commissions are a chance to try some crazy stuff, and flex on OC's with skills -- Ouri & Diya's a fast favorite (among many that Mazinja's asked for) and hopefully *another* dragon girl will show up soon.

But in the meantime, the queue is WIDE OPEN!...

#Sketches, no really!

Assorted sketches of characters from the universe of the Deneb Coven -- starting from the top right corner with shape exercises to start. Then along the right side, landscape drawing, from darkened cliffside, to briar strewn forestry.

The bottom left corner stars Marigold shouting "WITCHMOOT!" with a tiny sketch of her big sister Deneb ("Yes Mari. We know.") Also, the eldest Ribbon careens through the air on her broom, with her bat-winged familiar Shudders trying to keep up -- and the ever-put-upon Targe trying to coach her through it ("Pull up! Dive! Do a barrel roll!!")

Lastly, along the left side is Deneb, uncorking a potion with nasty black smoke trailing off. Toward the center is a more relaxed looking Targe, standing besides Tilde, as they overlook some waterfalling cliffside.
At the top left corner is... ...who is that? A dark-haired witch with dark words, as she wields cursed flames, that much is clear...

Marigold finishes the round at the top, blowing bubbles as one would with a bubble-blowing cantrip.
(Also, a tiny Marigold at the top edge, listing "Marigold Magic" -- including ideas like "Nudge Spell", "Share Sense" and "Fear (lvl.) 1".)

OVER THE HORIZON: Sora

A series of sketch studies of the character "Sora" from "Goddess of Victory: NIKKE." An instant favorite of yours-truly, each bust study is numbered, as Sora herself shows #1, an initial head shot and cool gaze. There's #1A -- an eye shape study, and a more robust... #2 bust. And that's leading to a cheeky smile and the shape of Sora's actual bust (#3!) Numbers 4, 5 & 6 are more expression studies of coy, suspicious and teasing looks. A small costume study is #7 with as simple and thorough a look at her airline stewardess outfit. #8 is a true-to-form look at Sora; her teasing laugh, busty shape, crisp outfit lines and thin, airy hairdo. #9 is a quick change-up with Sora's bunned twin tails and sexy glance from her recent new outfit. In all, she's an extremely fun character to draw even from these small studies!

[Revised D-717 Axelay]

An original concept of a spaceship, based on the 1992 SNES video game "Axelay." This concept trades the bulky pods-and-rockets design of the original japanese cover art, or the bulky armor of the USA cover for a sleek, aerodynamic style. The ship is accented in bright red over it's gray panels and black underside. It still has the tall tailfin and forward-swept wings, but shows off a taller pilot canopy, and the nacelles on either side have wings trailing from the back. Bristling with guns, the ship is built for battle!

A double dose of throwback #OC #sketches of moon bunnies? It's a good way to kick off the spring season!

MATSURI

A 2024 refined sketch of Matsuri, in a modified and showy miko-styled outfit; a flowy white robe and shortened red skirt. She carries a taiko drum on her right shoulder, while brandishing her drumsticks in her left hand. Hitting an exaggerated lean, Matsuri smiles while baring her chest -- heart shaped fur pattern and all -- and displays her healthy & strong legs. Matsuri also wears a hachimaki headband (with similarly styled anklets) to tie off her frizzy hair. A complimentary pic to Mizuki, as the two are never too far apart.

It's Friday the 13th again! That means more Freya (and her BFF Raisin) for me, and you! #OC #sketch

Various intimate sketches of Freya & her best-friend-with-benefits, Raisin. Freya, the cool foxgirl frenches with her curvy mouse GF (top left.) They exchange sweet & silly nothings (top right) -- way more fun than the "lameass dressup party" they were tie-and-suit-jacketed for (bottom right.) But what's a good relationship without the friction of horror movies that Frey loves and Ray can't stand? (bottom left.)

Generous implied nudity, wavy hairstyles, and cute dialogue in between, this was a fun stream cooldown. Happy 2nd B-Day, Freya!

Initial sketch of a commission for @deadmann.bsky.social of Eve vs. my OC, Kifa. A fast micro-sketch in black & white to establish the goal for the pic. All work on this image was done in Clip Studio Paint, at 3840x2160 pixel scale. A lengthy project, and many thanks to Deadmann's patience!

A further scaled, refined and basic-color version of the picture. Much of the root idea's here, but figuring out a lot of the posing and composition.

Refined lines and flat tones to frame out what'll go in the final. It was here that I decided to change a lot of details like the angle of Kifa's (red) attack and how Eve (yellow) would pose. Ambitious as it was, I had to ask @deadmann about background details and other checkdowns before...

Eve, a character from the N64 video game "Dark Rift", headlined by @deadmann.bsky.social gets struck by an original character by @crybringer, "Kifa." The huge and intimidating, egyptian themed jackal lady chops through the gold-colored metal maiden, who explodes with sparks and her laser-sword crackles with disruption. The force of the blow throws a wave of dust and the arc dominates the frame, all centered on Kifa's furious red eyes. They fight in a misty, murky forest of gnarled trees, the scene dutch-angled to emphasize the impact.

She is a ninja/spy rabbit anthro with a fluffy bobbed hairdo, round glasses, tight fit body suit and a vest & bracers for body armor. She shows off skillful running, dodging, dart-throwing, and a fierce looking "MIYABI SECRET ART" at the top right. She also has a sweeter, stylish, silly or sexier side to her, with various doodles of her in disguise -- or a dummy getting damaged -- dressed up, and undressing.

A unique commission for @lewdlime, featuring their "snaccubus" OC Sammy -- as a naga! Already a cute devil girl with interesting swirl patterned skin, scruffy pixie cut hair and curled devil horns; she dances seductively with her snake body coiling just behind her.
Rendered in full color, the real challenge was the African Bush Viper-inspired scales and tones. It all worked out, and was a pleasure to color in, especially!

The initial studies for Sammy's alternate shape. Such a cute OC!
Getting emotions and body language down is F-U-N fun for me.

In hindsight, leaving out the wings was good for time, and managing all the details... but next time there's a chance to draw Sammy, they're going in. Honestly, once these came through, it was smooth sailing...

...And this was about as "rough" as it got. Shifting the arms to have one up and one down made this exciting. The sketch stage is where the error correction's supposed to happen, and everything looked great...

...But, remember: DEFINITELY do a color/b&w flat pass on lineworks. Things may look fine as a sketch, but flaws, and very-slight-VERY-annoying missteps lay in wait. Crotch too low here. Left shoulder construction a bit off there. Nose & eye placement almost ALWAYS needs adjusting for me. A small price to pay for the finish, though!
