I'm mostly going to talk about action movies here and you're all just going to have to get used to it.
Enjoyed this enough )at least more than a lot) but its not without its issues. Its a movie that feels 3 years too late with what felt like a heavy covid quarantine metaphor that all feels a little half assed before becoming a "We should look after the world" movie that also feels a little half assed
Really loved this. As much as I really enjoyed the previous trilogy, this really feels so much more like a proper Spider-Man movie. There's a lot more care put into letting us see the "friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man" who's inhibiting a New York that feels so much more lived in than it did before
I dont like being too much of a "they don't make them like this anymore guy" and Id even say this is good rather than great but in the 90s, you could get an 80 minute giant crocodile movie and the cast would somehow contain Bill Pullman, Brendan Gleeson, Bridget Fonda, Oliver Platt and Betty White?!
Epic blockbuster filmmaking at its grandest. I thought this was incredible. Action packed, genuinely terrifying at points, beautifully shot, beautifully scored with a cast all bringing their absolute A game. Movies are fucking great
Possibly the weakest installment for me by a small amount mainly because I thought it struggled to maintain a consistent level of quality visually but it makes up for it by, even for an Evil Dead movie, having a real mean streak. There are still no Evil Dead movies that are even close to being bad
This was a blast. I think I'm just bad at looking at these YRF movies objectively because they tick every box when it comes to what I like about action movies. Kickass action sequences, always setting up their characters as the coolest people alive and a huge amount of over the top twists and turns

Another recent one, more representative of my favourite horror franchise. A franchise that I dont think is named enough as a great horror franchise
A very underappreciated movie from last year. Very funny, kind of terrifying if you think deeply about its concept

Had fun with this but definitely mid tier Jackie for me. The fight in the arcade type place was a lot of fun but the finale fell a bit flat for me. The racing stuff is cool and all but I dont watch a Jackie Chan movie for the finale showdown to be him exclusively behind the wheel of a car
Huge step up from Dont Worry Darling for Olivia Wilde. Very funny, surprisingly moving, fantastic last few moments
Went into this really wanting to love it but, outside of Milly Alcock who is legitimately great, it didnt work much for me. I've seen a lot of criticism towards the script but I think the problem is honestly more with the direction.
Samara Weaving is 3 for 3 on absolute bangers this year. Maybe her best performance yet, great chemistry with Kyle Gallner. Hits a lot of similar notes to last year's Eenie Meanie but manages to hit every single one even better
Dolph plays a drummer in a Die Hard scenario. 23 minutes in he kills a man with a drum stick. For that reason, I have no notes
Weirdly, the one thing the new Masters of the Universe made me realise is that I want to check out some more of Dolph Lundgrens filmography. Looked what was on Prime, randomly selected this one for tonight's watch
