This week our Armed Forces have been getting on with the job of defending our nation and our allies. From our aircraft carrier in the High North, the Army using the latest drone technology in Canada, to our jets patrolling NATO skies, and much more. They are the best of us. 🇬🇧
Our troops in Estonia defend NATO’s eastern flank every day. That’s why we are modernising and strengthening our forces to meet the threat. It was a privilege to meet them, see the latest drones and equipment, and thank them for their dedication and service. 🇬🇧🤝🇪🇪
We are strengthening our deployment in Estonia to defend NATO territory and deter Russia. Announced with Hanno Pevkur more people, better mobility, and the latest tech means a more lethal and effective force, ready to fight and win alongside our allies. www.gov.uk/government/n...
We’re strengthening our national security and creating up to 60,000 UK jobs by backing British firms like Sheffield Forgemasters. Steel forged here defended Britain in our darkest hours. Today, it helps Ukraine in theirs, while supporting our defence and sustaining good British jobs. 🇬🇧
Good to speak to Nepalese Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal about our unique and close cooperation on defence. For over 200 years, our nations have worked together to benefit our countries' national security, and I look forward to strengthening our partnership.🇳🇵 🇬🇧
We are absolutely committed to supporting Ukraine as they resist Putin's invasion with courage and defiance. Our industry has stepped up to help, and with access to this £78 billion scheme, UK businesses can now do even more to support Ukraine's defence. www.gov.uk/government/n...
Epic win! 🙌🏻 We march on to the semi-finals. 🏴🏴🏴🦁🦁🦁
Such an incredible privilege to pull on the @englandfootball.bsky.social shirt. Give it everything. COME. ON. ENGLAND. WE. KNOW YOU CAN DO IT! 🏴🏴🏴 🦁🦁🦁
🌍 Visited our personnel deployed on our aircraft carrier in the High North, protecting Europe’s seas and skies. They are just some of our people currently on operations and exercises around the world, working to keep us safe. Briefed on our global work during a visit to PJHQ.
🎖️Celebrated Armed Forces Week, joining the nation in showing our gratitude to all who serve and have served.
🇺🇦 Co-chaired the vital Ukraine Defence Contact Group, attended by President Zelensky and Minister Fedorov, announcing a £752 million UK support package for Ukrainian drones.
🤝 Represented our country at two major NATO meetings, building relationships with our closest defence partners and strengthening European security.
📑 Kept Parliament updated, including at Defence Questions and with statements, including recognising our courageous forces who interdicted a Russian shadow fleet vessel, dealing a blow to Putin’s war fund.
📧 Continued to serve my constituents in Barnsley North with over 620 items of casework actioned by the team. Met with residents and local charities to offer advice while supporting Armed Forces Week and the Barnsley 10K.
✂️ Opened a new British tech factory, and visited another – both leading the way on defence innovation and supporting well-paid, skilled roles. Also opened our new uncrewed systems centre in Swindon to back British businesses and drive transformation.
💷 Secured more money and made different choices in the Defence Investment Plan to get our Armed Forces what they need. We are embracing the opportunities of autonomy and investing in British industry to create thousands of new jobs.
The UK defence industry does a lot to help keep us safe and equip our armed forces, but I want us to do more. Buying British is good for national security and good for our communities. It helps create social value and gives people good skilled jobs. 🇬🇧 www.thetimes.com/article/d058...
Defence partners always… football opponents occasionally! Great to see my Norwegian counterpart @toreosa.bsky.social to discuss our defence and security partnership which is stronger than ever. Whatever happens on the pitch on Saturday, the friendship between our countries will endure.
It was a pleasure to host the Icelandic Minister for Foreign Affairs onboard, to see F35s conducting air policing operations and discuss our shared ambition to deepen UK-Iceland defence cooperation as Joint Expeditionary Force partners and NATO allies.
Proud to be onboard HMS Prince of Wales and back amongst those serving on operations. Deployed in the High North, our Carrier Strike Group is working with NATO partners to defend Europe and deter adversaries. I am very grateful for their dedicated service.
A tough fight tonight, on Mexico’s home turf — but we can do it. 💪🏴 Come on England!! 🦁🦁🦁
Our investment in Defence will support good jobs across our nation while making us safer. Great to open Cambridge Aerospace’s new facility today, and meet some of the people doing critical work for our Armed Forces and our national security.
Great to see Mark Rutte today following our recent meeting at NATO. We discussed how Europe is stepping up on security, allies' continued support for Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East. Look forward to seeing Mark and our 31 allies in Ankara next week.
#ArmedForcesDay celebrates the huge contribution our dedicated service personnel make to our nation. I am so grateful to them and all those who support them. Looking forward to today’s event in Aldershot and meeting serving personnel, veterans, cadets, and the local community.
It’s 10 years since the murder of my good friend, Jo Cox. A force of nature who always saw the best in people, she said that we have more in common than that which divides us. We honour Jo’s memory by remembering that.
Overnight, Royal Marines and @nca-uk.bsky.social officers boarded a Russian shadow fleet tanker, the first operation of its kind led by the UK. I'm incredibly proud of everyone involved who showed great skill, professionalism, and courage. This is another blow to Putin’s war machine.
The defence of our nation is the first duty of government. Our Armed Forces carry out that duty every day with professionalism, courage, and extraordinary skill. It is a huge honour and a privilege to serve alongside them again.
Foreign states are increasingly hiding behind proxies to carry out hostile attacks against our country. That's why we’ve today introduced the National Security (State Threats) Bill: arming law enforcement with stronger powers to better protect the public.
Today, we’re launching a new Support Hub for victims and survivors of terrorism. By providing a single point of contact, specialist caseworkers, and personalised support plans, we will join-up previously fragmented services and help people access the support they need. www.gov.uk/government/n...
A pleasure to meet HE Saeed Al Hajeri to discuss our joint efforts to tackle illicit finance. The UK greatly values our partnership with the UAE and we look forward to working closely together to counter shared threats. 🇬🇧🇦🇪
