Indeed — our Sulpha is a bit of a composite character, combining the poison-breathing Sky City dweller of the original comics and the red-eyed female scientist of the cartoon.
The Lizard goes starkers in this one, presumably because early CGI struggled a bit with realistic fabric, which tended to come off very fondant-y

Threw some quick colors on Emmett's sketch as a warmup for the evening. I really like @emmetthgraham.bsky.social's storytelling and cartooning, he's definitely a man to watch.
Somehow made it into my late thirties without doing a proper dive into USAGI YOJIMBO, and it's kind of blowing my mind. This is one of those COMIC BOOK comic books. Kind that makes you want to make them in the first place.

A few months ago, @stevelieberart.bsky.social sent me THE most incredible present: a clipping of this very strip, cut out of a 1935 issue of The New York American. 91 years later, it's framed in my office. Hell of a thing.

I actually pitched a four-issue adaptation of Doyle's THE LOS AMIGOS FIASCO! a couple years ago. The general angle was an Iannucci-style political farce that devolves into the last act of AKIRA. Who knows? Maybe someday. Here's the cover concept that went with the pitch:

My cinematic Batman opinions: West, Keaton and Pattinson are the best. Clooney is the #1 Bruce Wayne, Kilmer's Batman is the most competent, Affleck's was a snore, Bale gets points for gusto, Lewis and Lowery can kick rocks. The best Batman-that-never-was: early 40s Kyle MacLachlan.
