#AskAnArtist: What was your first drawing tablet? A Bamboo Pen and Touch around 2009ish? I didn't know you had to change the pen nibs when they got worn down so it ended up being scratched to hell 😅 My 2nd was the indestructible Huion H610, lasted me until 2019 when I got my first screen tablet.

So I'm trying to make a dent in my ever increasing backlog of things to watch and have finally started on watch Star Trek: Picard via Prime Video, and on the S1 finale this preceded the ep after about 30 seconds of SMPTE bars. None of the other eps had this... anyone know what's up with this?

ACCOMPLISHMENTS TODAY. All the lumber required to fix the shed and the crawl space has been bought. Shout out to the guy at #Rona for doing the cuts that let it all fit in my car instead of having to rent a van, plus the other guy who was a good sport about loading a fully assembled patio table.

Flight Attendant Pay vs. a Normal Job — Why It's Misleading to Look at the Hourly Rate

1. New hire Flight Attendant: $30.02/hour (as of April 1, 2024)
Sounds ok, right? But here's the catch - nthat rate only applies to flight hours, not all the time you're actually working.

2. Monthly Hour Limits
Flight Attendants are capped at about 75-80 flight hours/month.
A typical ground job is about 160 work hours (40 hrs/week)

3. True Equivalent Pay
If you spread that $30.02 over a full-time equivalent par kload [sic], it's basically 30.02 ÷ 2 = $15.01/hr

4. Unpaid Hours
Flight Attendants work many hours that aren't paid at hour rate, including:
• Arriving early for safety checks, briefing and boarding
• Delays before takeoff
• Deplaning
• Sitting in airports between connecting flights (sit time)
When you add those hours, the real hourly pay can drop below $15/hr — below minimum wage or even less.

Bottom Line: The $30/hr headline number doesn't tell the whole story — for a new hire it's below minimum wage o [sic] less.

From 1998 to 2004, Arielle and Maryse worked side by side in Air Canada's legal office in senior legal roles. That's 6 years as coworkers in the same department.

Now, one is pushing to silence flight attendants... and the other has the power to rule on it.
