King Of Boogie FIX YOUR HEARTS OR DIE!
Telecaster Tuesday! I saw this beaut on the interwebs. Factory colour! 1955! @muerdekeroyo.bsky.social
Alberta shows soon! I play with my buddy Steve Marriner and his band of merry gentlemen in Lethbridge, then we scoot on up to Cowtown to be part of the tribute to our pal Tim Williams at the Calgary Blues Festival!
Packing up the haul from Tahsis!! Plenty of thick, delicious Halibut, Ling Cod and a few other denizens of the deep… 🎣
Calgary! This will be a gooder! @rockinbluesshow.bsky.social @atcblues.bsky.social @livemusiccda.bsky.social
Sweet Tahsy Mollasy!! It was very nice to have Stanley be our guide again today! Westview Marina, Tahsis BC!
Great Success!! The salmon were elusive (even for Salmon Dave!), but we hauled in some beauty halibut and ling cod!!
Headed out into that land! Super Natural British Columbia en route to Tahsis (with a wee hydration break in honour of World Cup)!
I’ll be rocking the dock in beautiful downtown Tahsis tomorrow evening! Steak Night Boogie!! I give ‘er musically Friday night, then up bright and early to go slay some slabs!! 🎣🎸
Happy Heavenly 80th Birthday to Mitch Mitchell! I was absolutely blown away by his drumming when I first got into Hendrix. Combining jazz skills à la Elvin Jones, with rock sensibility. A powerhouse and very musical. I almost saw him with Randy Hansen back in the 80s, but issues at the border…
Happy Birthday to Jack White! He does some cool shit! @jackwhiteincolour.bsky.social
Fellow Bluesman Paul Reddick was in town, so it was my obligation as Nanaimo’s Goodwill Ambassador to show him around. In the old days, we would have gone to a dingy bar to observe the footwear models, but we went to brush up on his ornithological skills. Different kind of birdwatching 😉🐦💃🏻
I’ve had the same fashion sense for my entire life, based on the fact that all ever wanted was to be a guitar player and join The Pony Express. Influenced by the outfits of Hank Williams, Buck Owens, Port Wagoner… But it seems that the style of Charles Nelson Reilly snuck in there somehow!!
I’m excited to be invited back to Calgary International Blues Festival! I will be part of the tribute to our dear departed pal Tim Williams, hosted by The Porchdogs. Cindy McLeod has once again put together a stellar lineup for the entire event. Hope to see you there! @rockinbluesshow.bsky.social
A rare pic of Hank playing an electric guitar (kinda!). I was chatting about songwriting with my buddy Duane Watson recently, and inevitably Ol’ Bones was mentioned. No separation between life and art. A troubled genius, a mighty king!
Sunshine Coast! We look forward to seeing you in November! @rockinbluesshow.bsky.social
My buddy Duane Watson was also playing in Chemainus last night with Chris Andres and Louie Anjos, oddly enough. We whipped over after my set to catch their last song and I forced myself onstage so I could play that sweet Firebird! Curly cords rule, just like curly fries!!
Happy Sunday! We had a great time rocking the Chemainus Valley Blues Thinger yesterday. Gorgeous setting, fantastic crowd, and I got to grab my goodies in the little town that did!
Alan Wilson AKA Blind Owl of Canned Heat was born 82 years ago today. Troubled genius that left us too early, but he left us with timeless music…
Thankfully today’s World Cup game with Team Canada doesn’t conflict with my show in Chemainus this evening, but the question is; will I be in a good mood or a bad mood for the show?? 🤷🏻♂️ The band and I rock Chemainus at 7m!!
Some cool pictures of some of my favourite artists just as they were getting started! Johnny Winter, Leon Russell, Elmore James and Howlin’ Wolf!
Vancouver Island Music Fans!! We rock Chemainus Valley Blues Festival tomorrow! Music all day, we play at 7. Imma head down early to hit Island Pastry Haus, Hansel And Gretel’s Candy, Magpie’s UK goodies and antique shops! Chemainus; The little town that DID!! @chemainuscourier.bsky.social
