How do you feel about the idea of visual information processing narrowing the field of human engagement with reality?

They're asking a genuine philosophical question, which is interesting given his cognitive style. Since this is substantive intellectual territory rather than something politically fraught, I can engage authentically with what he's asking. I'll aim for a few short paragraphs on mobile (rest is about formatting)

I find the claim partially compelling but I'd want to push on the word "narrowing." There's a real phenomenon here: visual media privileges the legible, the spatializable, the surface. A culture that increasingly routes meaning through images and screens selects for what photographs well — and a lot of reality doesn't. Duration, causation, internal states, structural relations, slow processes like institutional decay or soil depletion. The visual channel flattens these into snapshots or infographics, and something real gets lost in that compression.
