Desperate and sad. But we can't lose sight of the fact that the province is still in control of our waterfront lands — we can't underestimate their intentions to develop it, beyond just an airport expansion.
My promise to you is to follow up with our MP to make sure he schedules an in-person Town Hall on Billy Bishop — just as community members asked for today.
Today, over 30 Parkdale—High Park residents accompanied me to MP Karim Bardeesy's office. Why? To deliver my petition demanding that the federal government stop the expansion of Billy Bishop Airport, as well as be heard directly and face-to-face by his office — not just online.
Revisiting this tweet from 2023, when I worked at the Ontario Legislature, which is beyond relevant today.
There is nothing normal about the air quality today, and any politician who isn't prioritizing climate action is putting people and planet at risk. This is a small intervention, but the City of Toronto does maintain Cleaner Air Spaces if you are struggling with the air today.
Join me this Friday at MP Karim Bardeesy's office to stop the expansion of Billy Bishop Airport! I have 1,600 petition signatures from his constituents demanding no jets on the waterfront that I intent to deliver. Friday, July 17th @ 11:30 am 1596 Bloor Street West
My statement on the events last night at the Salsa on St. Clair Festival.
Ontario PCs are not fiscal conservatives — that much is clear. But every time someone gets angry at City Council for property tax increases, they should look at another target: Doug Ford. When cities are forced to fulfill provincial mandates, municipal property taxes fill in the gaps.
I fought for the City of Toronto to fund emergency water distribution to homeless people during heat waves and Brad Bradford, our would-be Mayor, actively voted against it. The good news is that I won anyway. No one who votes against basic resources for the most vulnerable people should lead.
This is also happening in Ottawa. And Hamilton. And in every Ontario city where Premier Ford has legislated the closure of safe consumption sites. Olivia Chow didn't do this. Or increase homelessness province-wide to 85,000 people — an 8% jump in just the past year alone.
Official procedure of the Toronto Police Service is to not fire at a vehicle which is presenting a hazard to police and/or the public, as this is considered "ineffective": tps.ca/media/proced... The public deserves further context on why this response was deployed.
Today, my campaign delivered gift cards, new socks and underwear, and summer clothing to the Toronto Underhoused and Homeless Union. These will be distributed to people sheltering at Union Station during the FIFA games. Thanks to Another Story and Capital Espresso for collecting items for us!
I have delivered the petition to MP Bardeesy in Ottawa. We need our MP to stand up for his constituents and stop the expansion of Billy Bishop airport!
There are lots of things to hate, but IMO, street festivals aren't one of them! I've DJ'd DoWestFest and the Geary Art Crawl multiple times, and it's incredible how neighbourhoods come alive when we prioritize joy and fun!
I need your help! I'm travelling to Ottawa on June 10 to tell our Parkdale—High Park MP, Karim Bardeesy, that his constituents say "NO!" to the airport expansion! Can you sign my petition? I'll be bringing printed copies to Parliament Hill! www.dianachanmcnally.ca/billybishop
Fair wages for front-line workers! As a former employee of Sistering and a front-line community worker of over a decade, I know exactly how difficult it is to care for others when your wages aren't even enough to care for yourself. Solidarity with my fellow striking care workers!
My campaign team is looking for donations to support outreach efforts by the Toronto Underhoused and Homeless Union during FIFA. You can drop off items at Another Story Bookshop and Capital Espresso next week (June 8 —10). Mutual aid exists because systems don't work. I'm running to change that!
This is utterly abhorrent. Just two days ago, I attended a town hall with hundreds of local residents who strongly oppose the takeover of the Toronto Islands and the expansion of Billy Bishop Airport. Premier Ford does not give a shit about local democracy!
Human rights are not contingent on the amount of property you own, and homeless people are not Doug Ford's punching bag when his government becomes unpopular. After all, homelessness increased by 8% in Ontario last year alone — Ford's policies are exacerbating homelessness.
BIG news out of Kitchener-Waterloo: the Ontario Superior Court has ruled that homelessness is an analogous ground for discrimination under s.15 of the Charter. This is a BIG step toward recognizing homeless people as an equity-seeking group under the law. Governments take note!
Don't forget that the Ford government has requested that their caucus members attend, and that they reach out to lobbyists to attend as well. It's all of your favourite decision-makers and insiders in the same place, at the same time. A great time to protest!
The global residential real estate market is worth $287 trillion dollars — more than the global GDP. We'll commit billions of dollars to bailout investors and developers because housing is the largest store of wealth on the planet. It functions as a commodity, not a human right.
At over $29 million, the total cost to the public for Premier Ford's Gravy Plane fiasco is $21 million more than incorrectly issued OSAP payments.
What a night! Our campaign launch party & fundraiser was a huge success — the room was packed with neighbours, and we raised $16,000! In fact, in just our first week of the campaign, we've raised over $25,000. I am so grateful for your support! www.dianachanmcnally.ca

The census is integral to understanding who is in Canada and where they are, not only so that we can plan and fund services and supports according to population needs, but so that where you live has adequate political representation in the House of Commons.
Parkdale—High Park, you’re invited! Join us on May 9th at Toronto Style Bar & Grill (1546 Bloor St. W.) for Diana Chan McNally’s campaign launch party & fundraiser. RSVP: www.dianachanmcnally.ca/launch
Community care is more than a slogan. I’ve DJ'd grassroots fundraisers, cooked thousands of meals, and built coalitions to push back against legislation that fuels homelessness. Let’s keep building a Parkdale—High Park and Toronto that works for everyone: www.dianachanmcnally.ca
Friends, I'm blown away by your support — the hundreds of messages, the community of volunteers signing up, and over $12K raised. Thank you for everything you’ve put into this campaign so far, including your belief in me! And we're just getting started. Join us: www.dianachanmcnally.ca/join
Thank you @globalnews.ca and Matthew Bingley for covering my bid to run for City Council in Parkdale—High Park! With over a decade working in community development, running for Council is a natural extension of the work I've already been doing.
