Pretty perfect evening. Cindy Lawson and Rich Mattson at the Schooner. I ran into music friends, bocce friends, old postal friends, Palmer's friends, baseball/glove repair friends and just plain friends.
Rawlings model H2500 Lots of extra repairs to this one including "capping" the damaged thumb with a part cut from a spare parts glove.
Haven't even taken my annual out of town weekend trip to see the Twins this season (Seattle) and next season's schedule has dropped. Where should my group go next season? (assuming the possible strike/lockout doesn't screw up the schedule)
FYI: Sea Salt is closed today. There are still a few people at the falls. I was looking forward to some of their watermelon gazpacho to go and to have it in the comforts of home but certainly can understand.
Senior was softball cancelled this morning (air quality/heat) so it was a good opportunity for a coaster drop off and breakfast at the Half Time Rec (BBQ beef eggs Benedict!).
Someone just drove down Minnehaha Avenue with their windows down cranking Springsteen's "Streets of Minneapolis". A perfect end to my evening.
And some of the last batch of Schlitz was drank! @johnbonnes.bsky.social Garth from Arbeiter Brewing (thanks for the beer donation) and @freealonzo.bsky.social
Scenes from the All Star game watch party at D&J Glove Repair. Thanks to all who stopped by. Put it on your calendar for next season!
All Star Game watch party is underway. Gonna be a nice evening. Stop by if you're in the neighborhood.
Well what'd you know, me too Bill. This was the game that I was at with my then infant daughter. There were no changing stations in the bathrooms yet so Mike Veeck ushered us into his office and we changed her on his desk.
Just want to emphasize that you don't need to be a baseball fan to attend. Hoping to see some Mpls/StP Bluesky mutuals. All are welcome. Should be a nice evening.
I have this old can cooler from my dad. I still remember him complaining about the can condensation that would build up in the bottom and then dribble on his chin/chest when he took a drink of his beer. His solution was to wad up a napkin in the bottom. Same napkin has been there since the 80's.
Akadema model APM40 This catchers mitt required a lot of patching/sewing plus the pain in the butt Akadema web lacing pattern.
Rawlings RBG36 endorsed by Dale Murphy, a lefty version of this very common glove
Cambridge model XF10 Sometimes the cheaper, off brand older gloves had more complicated lacing patterns than a Wilson or Rawlings. This is a good example.
Spending much of Monday running errands and prepping for our All Star game watch party. Good thing I have Dom at the shop today to work on some gloves.
Twins win 48-49 heading into the All Star game break. Come watch the All Star game at D&J Glove Repair.
Stopped for one more at the Legion and we played "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by the recently passed Bonnie Tyler on TouchTunes and I'm actually feeling a little emotional...
Alright, I guess I'll watch the rest of the World Cup match at the Turf Club while a Grateful Dead cover band plays in the background.
@digitalhaas.bsky.social even set up a Metrodome seat in the Clown Lounge.
At the @mindoutoftimempls.bsky.social concert at the Turf Club tonight. They are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Dylan/Grateful Dead/Tom Petty concert at the Metrodome. They did this great version of "Masters of War".
