I mean...fingers crossed.

Full-length standing portrait of Philip II of Spain, painted around 1580 by an unknown artist and now in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery in London. (Though they took it off view a few years ago during their renovation/reinstallation and now the early modern galleries really only focus on portraits of British people, which is, in my opinion, a mistake.) Philip wears parade armor embellished wit gold, white and gold breeches, white leggings and shoes, and a white undershirt with the ruffs visible at his neck and wrists. He hold a commander's baton in his right and and rests his left on top of a parade armor helmet, adorned with white feathers and red ribbons, that sits on top of a table draped in red cloth.

Pintura de el Real Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial que se está en llamas. El lienzo es bastante oscuro generalmente. Las llamas, naranjas y fuertes, queman los techos negros del edificio y producen mucho humo blanco y gris. Unas personas están en el patio enfrente del monasterio; algunos salvan a los muebles del edificio y otras están en una procesión/ceremonia religiosa a la izquierda del cuadro. El Escorial ardió el 7 de junio 1671.

When you’re in Midtown for work on a Saturday, so you swing by the Ed Sullivan Theater in hopes of getting a squishy penny from the Colbert souvenir penny press, but this sign greets you on the door. (I mean, it’s 100% understandable as it was the weekend before their last week, but still. 😭)

Final Div III show of the year at Hampshire College Art Gallery—and the last with Lorenzo as director. Bittersweet, to say the least.

Roughly rectangular cloak made from multiple possum skins stitched together, their tanned surfaces acting as a white background. Across the top, there is a series of seven circular forms, ringed in yellow which also connects them, and each has designs within, some more clearly star-shaped, others less. Across the lower half, there are five areas delineated by red borders in which are more designs, including a snake, a flower, a plant, and some more abstract elements. The darker fur side of the skins curls around the edges of the cloak, especially at the top corners.
