We finally have a reprieve from the drought. Our crepe Myrtle celebrated with a late-season bloom. Hoping everyone else suffering drought sees some much needed rain! 🌧️ #gardensky #trees #gardens #plantsky
Had this mauve fleece in my stash for a while, so I made the Toaster Sweater (version 2) by Sew House Seven. I’ve sewn with stretch fabrics before but I learned how to make vents and use a double needle. Really rewarding project! #garmentsewing #sewsky #sewing
This came for free with my order from @malarkeybooks.bsky.social, and I was so touched by how tender these poems were. I don’t read poetry often (I know, I know!) but these reminded me that I should! #writesky #poetry #poems #write
I love that fabric! I made a dress with it a few years ago—a hacked Hinterland dress by Sew Liberated.
Reading my way through the heat wave. Just got these in from @twolinespress.com! What is everyone reading right now? #booksky #writesky #books
North Carolina is experiencing an extreme drought. We’ve lost most of our garden, alongside several shrubs. The only thing thriving are my Tango Cosmos. Come autumn, I’ll dye textiles with these dried blossoms and feel grateful for this burst of happiness. 🧡💛 #gardensky #plantsky #naturaldyer
June was pretty crazy, and I’m in a good lull before it gets busy again. I’ve been using this time to finish some fiber arts projects! Fellow knitters, what are you making in in this heat? 🧶 #knitsky #shawlknitters #knit
Thanks to The Dribble Drabble Review, which publishing my 100-word story, “On Zillow, I See” today! #microfiction #writesky #fiction #writing
It’s been such a long wait to see this tiger lily bloom! This lived, despite the heat, drought, and deer. 🐅 #gardensky #plants #plantsky
Shout out to my fellow writers who did all 26 of the micro marathon contests for @fiveminutelit.bsky.social ! It was quite the marathon, but I really loved having to set time aside each day to do it! #writersky #microlit #writesky #writing
NC has had an internet fiber outage for about 36 hours now. I got a little grumpy at first, but then felt silly about that, given how many better things there are to look at! #gardensky #plants #garden
Writer friends, submit your work to @pictura.bsky.social! We especially need more prose pieces. Get them in by June 10th to be considered for issue 7! 👩🏻💻 #writesky #booksky #writing #writers
We’ve had an extreme drought + 90+ temps in my neck of the woods. Only my potatoes are thriving. What plant is doing the best in your garden? #gardensky #garden #plantsky
My favorite yarn that I’ve naturally dyed so far. This is DK-weight yarn dyed with lac and modified with cream of tartar. My first time dyeing with lac: the color is so rich!! What should I knit with it? 🤔 🧶 #knitsky #knitting #shawlknitting #naturaldye
Beyond proud to have my flash hybrid piece, At My Elementary School on the Air Force Base,” out at @passagesnorth.bsky.social. This piece was a tribute to my fellow military brat classmates. ♥️ #writersky #writesky #cnf #flashprose
The winter storms battered our camellia bush, so many of its blooms turned brown and fell off. This one managed to survive and bloom! What’s blooming near you? #gardensky #gardening #camellia
Winding up the yarn I naturally dyed. I used cochineal and alum to achieve this color. Feeling a little tired of winter and hoping to see more color soon! #naturaldye #knitsky #yarnsky 🧶
My view while working this morning. Can’t remember ever seeing icicles like this in NC. Reminds me of living back north. 🥹 #writersky #snow
It’s been years since my part of NC got heavy snow (ice storms, though, are another story). Snowed in and knitting my cozy classic raglan. Couldn’t be happier. ⛄️ #knitting #garmentknitting #sweaterknitting #knitsky 🧶
Doomscrolling cleanse! This amaryllis took forever to bloom, but it was so worth it. It has 6 blooms, and a second stalk right behind it. A lovely gift on this icy morning. What are your favorite winter plants? #gardensky #plant sky
We were supposed to get a snowstorm, but it’s just overcast and rainy. So I made a loaf of seeded bread and curled up with Minae Mizumura’s “An I-Novel” as recompense. #breadsky #bakingsky #booksky
Took time away from doomscrolling to make something beautiful. This is the Sagebrush shirt by @fridaypatternco.bsky.social in Nani Iro double gauze. The sleeves would make Anne of Avonlea proud. 🫡 #garmentsewing #sewsky #
It’s 70 here today, so I mordanted some wool and I’m letting it air dry. Hoping to make a Felix pullover with this after I dye it with either madder or cochineal. 🧶 #naturaldye #wool #knitsky
Our beloved pup died at 16. We replaced him with this monster, who, as a pup, regularly stole Kleenex from boxes and chewed all the leaves she could find. Her energy level was unmatched! 😂
I love knitting the same patterns over again. This is the Wick Shawl by Curious Handmade. The tweed feels so cozy! What patterns do you turn to again and again?🧶 #shawlknitting #knitting #knitsky
