Norman Greenhalgh - a Boltonian who became Everton skipper. The tough-tackling left-back, who had the nickname Rollicker, won the league in 1939 & became club captain in 1946. Later Mine Host at the Winslow. He was born on 10 August 1914.

Born on 2 August 1935, Alex Parker. 220 EFC appearances, 5 goals. A brilliant right-back who was appointed club captain in succession to Roy Vernon, only for injury to hasten the end of his time at Goodison Park.
The Toffees are in Hamburg today, having flown over from Liverpool Airport, yesterday. Back in 1936, their journey to the German port city included a crossing on the ocean liner New York. The ship’s captain, of course, grabbed a photo opportunity with the Blues’ stars.
