Great fireplace inside the entrance hall to the Acorn Bank mansion. Looking up inside reveals it had a hallin where meat was hung and smoked. The domed shape explains the fell-name Hallin Fell.

At the Penrith Parkrun this morning. Not running of course! Brought our sister-in-law from Exeter. Seems lots of people love to tour the Parkuns and tot up the initial letters, this being her first ‘P’.

This meadow on the Scottish side of Kershope Burn is known as the Tourneyholm, where historically tournaments, single man to man combat and Marcher disputes were resolved.

Liddel Water upstream from Kershopefoot Bridge. My left foot was in Scotland and my right foot was in England. Kershope means ‘watercress valley’.
