took Meringue to the vet today and she's getting on some medicine to help with her diarrhea, and if she doesn't get better she'll have to get an ultrasound to check for lymphoma soon

I had the most amazing experience today at work.

I was sitting at my podium and Sam came up with someone and told them to sit next to me while they go talk to a supervisor about escorting them to their gate.

We sat in silence for a bit, I made a remark to officer Nut as we went back and fourth as a joke. Then the person broke the silence and asked me, "are you gay?"

I turned and laughed nervously like, "Uh, yeah, I am.. are.. you?"

"I am!"

"Oh, cool!" I paused and decided to take it further with, "I'm also trans nonbinary."

"I am too!!"

We both laughed and I asked if they were "medically transitioning" at all, and they said "when I turn 18 I want to."

"Oh, uh.. how old are you?"

"12."

"OH? You know all this already? I didn't even know what trans was when I was your age. Best we had was "tomboy" so I'm glad you got to figure something out. Are you on like, puberty blockers?"

"Yeah, it's just hard because of the homophobia where I'm from."

"Where are you from?"

"Where are you from?"

"Florida."

"Ah, yeah.. but you know, I know a lot of queer people down there. There's a huge community down there. You'll find your people."

I asked their pronouns, they said "he/they" and I said I went by those too. They said they went to a drag show recently and they had a great time, and I said I saw a Trixie Mattel show a few years back and they said they loooved Trixie!

"Did you choose a name for yourself yet?"

"I'm going by Charlie!"

"Hey, that's a great name! I know like 3 people who chose Charlie, it's one of my favorite names."

They really brightened up at that.

I asked after a second, "do I.. give off gay energy? Like you just knew?"

They laughed and went "Ohhh yeah, you have a lot of gay energy."

"Haha, well GOOD!"

Sam came back and asked if I wanted to bring them to the gate, and I said I'd love to. So we got to chatting more as we went to gate 17, and I took it a step further and asked if they knew what a "furry" was.

"Of course, I've been to a furry convention and it was awesome."

"Wow, okay, you just know everything, huh! I figured you'd enjoy the furry scene, there's a lot of queer artists. My husband and I expressed ourselves through our characters, so I thought you'd like that."

I then showed him my fursona, Marty, and he got so excited. He also mentioned he felt he was therian, and I laughed and said I kinda felt that too, I just haven't explored it.

I got them to the gate and made sure Southwest knew they were a minor and needed help to make sure they got on the plane.

I turned to Charlie and shook his hand and said I was really happy to meet them, it really made me happy to see someone so young know about the community and know what they want for themselves. It just made me feel so good and happy to meet someone like them. I really needed it.

They said I was really nice and they were happy they got to see someone my age where I'm at with my transition, and they were excited to choose how they want to do it (injections or gel lol).

I hope I get to meet Charlie again some day. That was fucking awesome.

this is my almost 5 yo Meringue/Merry! she's deaf and is a little brat lmao Sufjan will wait at her cage for her when he hears her wake up, even if she nips him he's just happy to be around her, he's smitten 🥲 she's also lost all her grays from when she was a baby! she had a big heart on her head

LOL YEAH.. sounds about right. this is my setup right now and I gave her a small peak hole that she can see through if she gets on her tippy toes lol my last apartment was a -nightmare- with ferret proofing. the girls are crazier I swear..
