We are a federation of grassroots groups working for social and environmental justice. Authorised by Cam Walker, 312 Smith St, Collingwood.
The VIC Leg Council Env & Planning Comm has released its final report into the 2026 summer fires across Victoria. We are pleased to see the main committee recognise reality: that climate change is a key contributor to bushfire conditions.
We are at VIC parliament today standing in solidarity with Parks Victoria staff who are campaigning for a fair pay deal. @cpsuvic.bsky.social
NAIDOC Week will be celebrated from 5–12 July this year. It celebrates the history, culture, & achievements of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples, & is an opportunity to learn about Indigenous cultures and histories. www.unimelb.edu.au/indigenous/e...
There was a lovely community gathering to say farewell to Neil Barrett today. Neil was a key figure in FoE's early days as an organiser, writer, the Shareholders for Social Responsibility group, & playing a key role in the anti nuclear bike rides to Canberra. www.foe.org.au/neil_barrett
TODAY IS THE DAY. It’s June 30 — last day to make a tax-deductible donation to Friends of the Earth Australia this financial year. Every $ goes directly into the campaigns building community power in the face of the oil crisis, global conflict, & the rise of the far right. www.foe.org.au/donate
End of Financial Year is the most important time of the year for fund raising for groups like FoEA. If you felt inspired to donate to support our campaigns it would be hugely appreciated! www.foe.org.au/donate
The VIC Parl Inquiry into decommissioning oil & gas infrastructure report recommends that companies like Exxon and Woodside should be required to remove all their defunct offshore drilling infrastructure, & hire local unionised workers to do so.
Charities must be free to speak up for the communities we serve. This week, orgs across the country are coming together to support stronger protections for charitable advocacy. When charities are silenced, communities lose a voice in public debate. #LetCharitiesSpeak #ProtectCharitiesVoices
The nuclear industry is seeking to expand its toxic influence. For 50 years, FoE's Nuclear Free Collective has been organising to support Aboriginal nations & communities on the frontline of nuclear expansion. Our art auction raises funds for this vital work. www.melbournefoe.org.au/artauction2026
VIC Parl Env & Planning Comm has released the report from its Inquiry into decommissioning oil & gas infrastructure. FoE commends the report for recommending that significant obligations be placed on fossil fuel cos to clean up offshore infrastructure. www.melbournefoe.org.au/media_releas...
There is a fantastic turn out for today's climate movement convergence in Naarm / Melbourne. Around 200 people have turned up to plan for the November state election.
Chevron. No crimes. No impunity. No evasion of justice Ecuador must NOT pay Chevron; it must demand that Chevron PAY those affected by environmental destruction #Solidarity action from Melbourne, Australia #DoNOTPayChevron #StopImpunity @foeint.bsky.social @udapt.bsky.social
An updated version of our report on community sentiment towards increased bush fire costs & 'who should pay'. Resounding support for a levy on companies that export fossil fuels. www.melbournefoe.org.au/reports
Bass Coast Council in VIC is the 4th to pass a motion calling for big polluters to pay for a Climate Compensation Fund. With worsening storms & erosion, a Fund paid for by coal, oil & gas exports would help communities recover from extreme events. www.act.tippingpoint.org.au/efforts/make...
Aussie beer drinkers are paying more tax than multinational gas corporations exporting our resources. Join us at City Square in Melbourne on Friday May 8 for a snap action to call on the Albanese gov to tax gas exports. It’s time to tax gas greed. www.facebook.com/events/17561...
After this summer's fires in VIC we asked the community to tell us about who they think should have to pay for ever longer & more intense fire seasons. The results of our survey show resounding support for a federal levy on fossil fuel companies. Report is here > www.melbournefoe.org.au/reports

In Black Summer a campaign by the Murdoch press claimed the bad fires had nothing to do with climate change & was about arson. It feels like things have shifted - more & more people see that seasons are getting longer & climate change is driving the changes. www.melbournefoe.org.au/who_should_pay
'Big tech industry’s claims about the climate benefits of artificial intelligence (AI) are a hoax. 74% of claims about AI’s climate benefits are unproven, serving the profits of tech & fossil fuel industries, downplaying the major climate harms of AI'. foe.org/news/report-... @foeus.bsky.social
