Hello, looks like there's a new #solar farm being built near Stratters. 🌞⚡👍 I wonder where? Obviously Alcester road direction - I wonder if it's near one of the two existing ones on that side of town? Must remember to take a look.

Walking to and from the # #allotment is great for seeing #wildlife. The other morning a little muntjac deer skitted across the road in front of me, and this evening the wild bunnies are in the field alongside the foot way.

I think I'm going to need a change of t-shirt. 🥵🤪🌡️🌞

I was the first person here at the #allotment site yesterday morning. Today I seem to be the last person left. At the moment at least: I suspect the locals stroll across the road at dusk.

I'm not convinced that putting shade netting up, having an automatic vent and leaving the greenhouse door open made much difference to the temperature in there today. Max still well over 50°C! 🌡️🥵🌞🌱💦🤪

The early bird catches the water supply! Up at the #allotment plot just after 5am to water before everyone else comes down, and also put some shade netting in the greenhouse as everything is scorching in there. #gardening

The pumpkins are getting into their stride and putting on lots of growth. They've had diluted nettle tea feed too, so hopefully they'll keep it up! #allotment #gardening

The tied up and side shoot removed tomatoes just before I left the site this evening. I gave them a good drink with nettle tea enriched watering cans so hopefully they'll survive the heat tomorrow and romp upwards. There's some flowers and a few tiny green fruits already forming though. #garden 🍅

These were still big fat buds when I left the house this morning. Rather impressive flowers. #gardening

Things are getting pretty dry up at the #allotment where I haven't been watering... and we're not even in the next #heatwave yet.

Another lovely summer's evening at the #allotment plot. And good water pressure which might be explained by the chatter and cheering I could hear from the nearby community centre!

My school, the School of Sport, Exercise & Health Science (SSEHS) has taken part of the Bupa "Health Cities" challenge during June, to promote physical activity such as walking. The Bupa app could pick up step count from existing trackers such as Google Fit. Turns out I came 11th! A fat old techie!

Walking back from the railway station I noticed several points along the road where the recent rain shower appeared to be foaming slightly. Maybe someone dropped detergent on the road? Or it washed off a car or truck? Maybe The Man is spraying Fairy Liquid from stealth planes in chemtrails? 😳🤪🤡✈️🌧️

The BBC weather site has been promising us rain all day, but despite clouds not a drop. Got to 7pm with the sun coming out and I decided I had to water my station planters. So loaded up the bike with 20kg of water and set off. I had just started to water when the first rain drops fell... 🤪🤨🌦️

Walking home through the town I was amused to see one of the ladies outfitters were making use of the #heatwave to attract customers into the shop. 😁

Trying to eek out as much as I can from my water butts at the #allotment. I built a little concrete step so that I could lean further into one of the 350 litre butts with a bucket. That watered some of the potatoes and beans nearby, but there's now just a centimetre or two in the bottom. 😳😟💦

After the trouble I had germinating #tomato seeds at home and in the greenhouse earlier in the year, the #allotment is now throwing up "volunteer" tomato plants around area I grew them in outside last year. Now that's some self seeding I can get behind! #gardening

Dear @emilytomshep.bsky.social , I wish to complain that since your series of photos showing cinnabar caterpillars on groundsel, my weeding now takes much longer and is not as "thorough"! 😉🤣🤣🤣🤣

Time to find a shady spot that needs weeding & tidying at the plot. It might be cooler than the past week but when the sun is out from behind a cloud it's still toasty mid afternoon. 🌞🥵🌱

Time for the nettles to earn their keep again on the edges of our #allotment plot by making some high nitrogen nettle "tea" to feed the tomatoes with in a week or so's time. #gardening

I nabbed this small tray dibber out of the site skip a few weeks ago. It was only missing a corner and was otherwise fine for mass dibbing planting holes in compost. Unfortunately it hasn't liked being in a 55+°C greenhouse last week!

Even at 10pm as I was packing up, it was still above 30°C so the greenhouse auto vent was still wide open as the light faded over the #allotment.

Outdoor #allotment crops have mostly coped much better. Deep organic material filled beds and mulches helped, as did several hundred litres of water on Sunday (and maybe a shower on Monday night - not sure if Stratters had one).

After a few days away I got off the train and immediately went to my #allotment to water. The greenhouse plants have suffered somewhat even with the solar watering system and auto vent, but did literally go off the scale in there over the last couple of days. 🌡️😳😟

Hoorah for the @lborouniversity.bsky.social electric Kinch buses with air conditioning. 18°C in the bus instead of 34°C outside walking across the campus and into town!

Guess who was in the office by himself on the hottest June day ever when the chilled air handling system pump in the ceiling failed and watered the desk below? I'm going to get blamed by @middlebrewer.bsky.social aren't I? 🤔💦😂

I thought yesterday evening was bad in my Victorian garret flat bedroom, but this evening is worse. 38°C? I might be sleeping in the churchyard next door! #heatwave 🌡️🥵🫠
