Two wild turkey toms on a back door stoop, looking through a plexiglass storm door, as seen from inside. There are four more toms and a hen behind them (you can only see two more in this photo, but they’re there). It’s July, the garden is abundant, it’s 9 in the morning, and there’s the head of a garden hose under one of the turkeys.

🪶 Thick ominous yellow haze today, wildfire smoke drifting through here. The seven wild turkeys of the apocalypse are still arguing over which plague each gets to unleash.

A couple of wild turkey toms pecking at peanuts in a driveway. The sun is shining and making their feathers glow copper-y. They both look a little gnarly in the face, more swollen than usual. Probably got a touch of the turkey pox, who knows

A hen with about 10 poults came through about two weeks ago, but i haven’t seen them since. I think it’s a little too exposed for her in our yard, she probably likes more tangle.

🪶 Summer camp

Five wild turkeys, three toms and two hens, making a beeline towards the bird feeder. They are in a back yard with a recently mowed lawn that is getting a bit crispy from the excessive heat. Come to think of it, they might be heading to the birdbath to have a drink. It’s july, it’s early in the day and already hot; they’re gonna disappear into the shadows the rest of the day.

CJ strikes me as less of a boat guy and more of an expensive restaurant kind of guy

CJ Doyle of the “Catholic League of Massachusetts” (highly likely that it’s just him) on Fox News with a dyspeptic look on his face, complaining about “christian monuments vandalized across the US”, pic next to him is a statue of Mary with a trash can over her head, which is only vandalism via technicality.

Three wild turkey toms in a rainy backyard. The one on the left has a flight feather sticking out of its wing that i’ve been dying to pluck from him for days, but i can’t get close enough. One of the toms in the foreground looks like he’s running, because he just got nipped in the bum by the one behind him.

🪶 This is the deal nowadays, six lads and one lassie (top left) that come see me every day. The lads don’t bother her anymore, so i think she already laid eggs and her nest failed, maybe? She’s an honorary lad this year.

Seven wild turkey in a back yard. Six toms and one hen; the hen looks browner and has a fuzzy brown head. Unlike the lads who are bald and very red in the face and neck. There’s some raised garden beds that all have fencing around them because if you don’t fence in your vegetables, the turkeys will peck them all to bits. Not necessarily because they like vegetables, more because they’re hoping for bugs under leaves.
It is june and sunny and the grass is green.

🪶 This lad’s been trying to impress a lady in the yard all day, but he looks like something took a bite out his tail feathers. Strangely, the lassie seems to be into it.
