The Kawasaki C-2 is mad powerful. At MTOW, it has a thrust-to-weight ratio of ~0.38, better than most 1st-gen jet fighters. Normal for a modern transport? NO! That’s ~1.3×–1.5× higher than C-17, A400M, C-5M, and C-130J
A fully loaded F-14 weighed a tonne more than the heaviest B-17. Think about that for a second. One is an entire four-engine heavy bomber carrying a crew of 10. The other a carrier-capable fighter capable of 7.5 G and Mach 2+.

Fun fact: the Kawasaki C-2 has a higher thrust-to-weight ratio (~0.38 at MTOW) than the F-100 Super Sabre (~0.3–0.33). A military transport out-muscling a 1950s supersonic fighter on raw power says a lot about how far jets have come.
Remember, lots of talk about Fly-By-Light? The Kawasaki P-1 is the first production aircraft to use it (entered service in 2013). It offers full EMP protection, but many think FBW is good enough. FBL sends flight control signals as light through fibre-optics instead of wires.
