Was lucky to see @billybragg.bsky.social at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival tonight. He was in great voice with plenty to say between songs, from England’s third place victory at the World Cup to the Alberta referendum. A great night of music for sure!
Finally digging this, a week late. (Some life events got in the way.) There’s a lot to like here, even if it isn’t quite as good as Hackney Diamonds. Score another one for England’s Oldest Hitmakers! #vinyl
What do you do when you have a day off in the middle of the week? Go to the record store, of course! Picked up the new Death Cab for Cutie. It’s a bit of a grower but it definitely has potential. Smart, well-crafted, and almost poppy (for them anyway). #vinyl
Listening to Big Sugar’s 1998 album Heated, a fine soundtrack to this #CanadaDay. Gordie Johnson and company are in fine form here!

Father’s Day hits a little different this year. First one without him.
Angine de Poitrine! Happy to finally have this on vinyl! Weird microtonal guitar jams from Quebec and I am so here for it! #vinyl
Sunday listening with Muddy Waters. “The Real Folk Blues” is a compilation originally released in 1966. This cassette is the 1987 reissue. Classic stuff.
Another one crossed off the concert bucket list: @theblackkeys.bsky.social And on my birthday too!
Listening to the new Boards of Canada on new release day is a beautiful thing. Inferno has elements of the classic Boards of Canada sound while also stretching into new areas of sonic terrain. This will definitely take more than a few listens to fully digest! #vinyl
Spinning this to mark its 50th anniversary…which makes me almost 48. #vinyl
My one purchase for #RecordStoreDay2026, Nite Flights, the 1978 studio album by The Walker Brothers. David Bowie fans will be familiar with the title track, which he covered on Black Tie, White Noise years later. An interesting listen that is of its time in places while timeless in others. #vinyl
Saturday is #RecordStoreDay. I caught up with Ben Frith of Vancouver's Neptoon Records to talk about how #RSD has evolved since 2007 and how he keeps it fresh and interesting every year. @citynewsvancouver.bsky.social
Spent the day hooking up and test driving my dad’s old stereo components. The Akai tape deck, the Sansui G-7500 receiver and SE-9 Compu-Equalizer are almost as old as I am. Soundtrack courtesy of The Cockroaches.
Looked what decided to show up today: the four LP deluxe edition of Aerosmith’s self-titled debut album. Sounds incredible. I’m really enjoying it so far. Hope my neighbours are too! #vinyl
Okay, Spring technically arrived on Friday. So Happy (Belated) First Day of Spring!
