This year I am co-organizing session #18 at @tag26exeter.bsky.social with colleagues Sofia Figueiredo-Persson and Trond Lødøen with title "Life, Death and Transformation with Deer through the European Holocene". We are aiming to explore human-animal relations with a particular focus on deer. 1/
There are things I would have done differently, but I am still very proud of my accomplishment and my work. A couple of years later my thesis was published with the lovely BAR Publishing as the first number of their (at the time) new series on the Archaeology of Prehistoric Art.
Facebook reminds me that I submitted my PhD thesis 9 years ago. The run up to this submission was one of the hardest times of my life. At this point, I had already started my Post-doc a few months before, work was in full swing and I was so busy. 1/
Last Saturday I was back in Kilmartin for the Rock Art Gathering event at Kilmartin Museum. For a few years now, Kilmartin is a yearly pilgrimage for me and every time I go back it feels like a warm hug. It is a place for smiles, laughter and friendships. 1/

I'm afraid I don't have an image with scale bar at the moment. It was found in Dumfries and Galloway. The rock in front of it has cup-and-ring marks
We also found Palaeolithic Art with quite a unique animal depiction, where the 3 different species shared the same body.

When I finished my undergrad I did an internship in archaeology but based at a contemporary art museum in the town of Amarante, the birth place of the amazing Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso. I spent a bit of time looking at his work. He accomplished so much and was only 30 when he died of influenza.
Throw back to 2022 when a lady made a drawing of me after watching the History Hit documentary I was in!
Out of Office It’s been a messy year and even crazier 2 last months but somehow I managed to get everything on my (stupidly extensive) list done. Looks like I survived and I’m now on my way to London for some days with the family. See you next year and fingers crossed it will be a quieter one!
