A baby girl is battling cancer while her father is locked away by ICE. Juan Francisco's 1-year-old daughter has a life-threatening eye cancer and was diagnosed last August. He has been at the Laredo Rio Grande Processing center for 157 days.

43 adults and 17 children have been killed in Haiti. In one strike, a woman lost her 3-year-old daughter and husband. The mother found her daughter with holes in her body. She did not have enough money to bury them.

Texas has lost one of our own. Army Pvt. Isabella Gonzales of Carrollton, Texas—just 19 years old—was killed Friday in an Iranian strike. Her family and loved ones are in my prayers.

More than 100 of Governor Abbott’s buoys broke loose during deadly floods in Texas. Buoys with sharp razors are now causing damage to neighborhoods and have shut down a bridge that transports thousands of vehicles a day.

This is who ICE has out on our streets. This agent is a real threat to public safety unlike the man he murdered.

Hebert came to the United States when he was just 4 years old with his family, fleeing violence in Mexico. Hebert’s wife is a U.S. citizen and is desperate for his return. My office is working to bring Hebert home where he belongs, with his young wife and family.

Still in his mariachi attire, a detention facility worker taunted him: "If you sing me a song, I'll let you go." What was meant as mockery, mariachis across San Antonio have turned into an act of solidarity and are banding together to sing for his release.

Leonardo Santiago "Santi" Soto Uribe should be enjoying his summer before starting 9th grade. Instead, ICE detained him and his father, Benjamin Lerma-Huipio, outside of San Antonio. ICE separated 13-year-old Santi from his father, who is being locked away at a different facility.

What began as freedom delayed, Texans turned into a moment to celebrate the joy, resilience, and contributions of Black Americans. On Juneteenth, let us share both the joy and the work ahead in fulfilling our nation’s promise of freedom for all.

Tomorrow, I will meet with Octavio to make sure he is okay and to check on conditions at the facility. Octavio should be released immediately and reunited with his family.

He had a valid work permit. He was caring for his mother and father. His parents and family members are U.S. citizens. He was working and contributing to his community. ICE is going after members of our communities, like Octavio, and tearing families apart in the process.

He was at work—providing for his children—when ICE took him away. Octavio has been held in an ICE detention facility since April. Because he was the sole provider for his family, his partner and children have been forced out of their apartment.

Octavio Daniel Cabrera Valdez was building a life for his family in San Antonio. He has an 8-year-old son and a 4-year-old daughter who depend on him.

On DACA’s 14th anniversary, we celebrate Dreamers. They have gone to school, built families and lives, and contributed enormously to our communities. They belong here.
