The redevelopment was made possible thanks to a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) grant of £1.5m and the generous support of University of Birmingham alumni, and a number of grant awarding bodies, trusts and foundations. 3/4

One of our motivations behind the re-opening was to transform the Galleries, providing an interactive, hands-on approach to learn about Earth history. We also wanted to showcase our collections of fossils, rocks and minerals in an inspiring and innovative way. 2/4

It has been 10 years since we re-opened the Museum to the public, after an 18-month closure as part of a £2.7 million redevelopment and expansion. 1/4
