Code creative, 10x talker, Elixir, BEAM, open source/standards/platforms, he/him, part librarian. Currently a conference: The stuff: Elixir shirts:
When I say my Pop_OS! install is cursed I do mean it. I should blast it and repave at some point. I tried to start and upgrade yesterday. Not I can apparently start it again. What I can't do is close the window..
You also don't need to talk to me at #ElixirConfEU. You can just go "uh.. stickers?" I won't mind. I bring these in case people want them. We always pack in an appropriate sticker when we sell shirts. See you there.
The app that does everything. In Elixir. If you have any hesitation about seeing my talk during ElixirConf EU. Keep hesitating. If you have any hesitation about saying hi during ElixirConf EU. Roll up you dingus. Say hi. Interrupt me even. I'm always talking. #elixirlang
Tuning your presentation in Keynote is very important. First draft of slides were >10GB. Final_V2-last-one.key is 5GB. This is mostly due to speeding up a lot slides. Faster slides take up more space as we all know. The faster you go, the fewer frames you need. #elixirlang
For Goatmire workshops we are including some that are not specific to Elixir. We're all looking to learn. Local co-conspirator Raniz offered to share his knowledge of TDD. I was pleased to be able to accept. goatmire.com/talk/test-dr... Did I mention these are free? #elixirlang #goatmire
Sam Aaron is quite busy at Goatmire. First a workshop where you can learn to program music. He is also speaking on his marvellous progress on Tau5. And a proper DJ set at the After Party at a proper venue to finish out the conference. goatmire.com/talk/make-so... #elixirlang #goatmire
The man of two first names heralds a coming of Ash. We have the pleasure to confirm Zach Daniel returning to the Goatmire stage. May he refrain from untangling the timelines this time. goatmire.com #elixirlang #goatmire
Our next confirmed speaker said "whatever you need". People can't just hand me that. Geesh. More to come on what the talk will be but we already know there will be Nerves community workshops and Frank will be in 'em. Frank is the initial instigator of creating Nerves. #elixirlang #goatmire
Our first confirmed speaker is a fantastic get. Bryan Hunter, known for his work with Elixir in massive health care systems just happened to be in our neck of the woods and said yes! We don't know what to expect for the topic yet which is almost more exciting. #elixirlang #goatmire
A firmware is never small enough. But we're getting pretty close. We've been improving deltas to remove unnecessary resources when delivering firmware with NervesHub. Available on a NervesCloud near you. #elixirlang #nerves
Disrupting the edge as usual. Just a few tweaks and we'll be golden. #elixirlang #webrtc #yolo
I am speaking at ElixirConf EU. The talk is about an everything bagel of an app that has a truly ridiculous number of things in it. A production system that runs on Nerves and truly embodies what an Elixir monolith can be. Let me illustrate. #elixirlang
I use this list a lot. It works really well. bsky.app/profile/did:... Except when Gleam hits the front page if HN apparently. See attached..
Not Umbrella apps and not Range data structures. So what is Andrea talking about? This was a talk he'd been wanting to give for a while. Andrea was the first confirmed speaker of Goatmire. An OG supporter, much appreciated ❤️ goatmire.bold.video/v/w9nve #elixirlang #goatmire
This is nonsense. I expected better. Specs are "up to" but price is just stated. But price is actually "as low as". The specs are in other words completely unrelated to the price. The processor upgrade to the one they list costs more than the price they show.
Gus Workman got me. With a physical prototype! Stay tuned... NervesConf EU & Goatmire Elixir incoming. #elixirlang
Crude benchmarking is fun. This is a total hack in terms of the seriousness-level but it the performance maps to the ideal case. Need to make some more contention-causing loads as well, see how that compares :)
The Primeagen and teej_dv are poking around Elixir. So a few of us got together and sent them some swag to encourage it and make sure they could be properly branded. Grabbed this picture from a Prime post since it's on the bad place. It is kind of fun to see oswag.org shirts showing up there.
If someone were to make an Erlang shirt the terrible mockup attached shows a problem. The logo is actually transparent. It works really well on white. For production reasons one might not be able to flip the black text white for the black shirt. It could work okay on a gray. Which one? Why? #erlang
This makes me think of the challenge of having models generate an image of a flail that is actually stick -> chain -> spikeball. I offer you ChatGPT 5. All the components are there. Modular?
Our good friends at Tigris return to support our efforts. This time they are sponsoring a very special thing for Goatmire that I look forward to sharing soon enough. We use their object storage for NervesCloud. Check them out for geo-distributed object storage. www.tigrisdata.com
This is what you get when you don't finish your post in time. The ground moves. Number go up.
Let's do some writing shall we... Are there writing livestreams? Of course there are. Any you can recommend? I mean if someone wants me to try it, holler. It'd be interesting to try, see if and how it changes my process. Anyway, gotta blog.
