A railing hung down from an awning above the deck. Grabbing hold of it, Stuie pulled herself the rest of the way through. Taking care not to look down at the frigid water, she pushed off and stuck a perfect landing on the deck below with hardly a sound. Auntie Alex would be proud!

She looked left and right and all around as she listened. Hearing no yelling, no talking, no footsteps, Stuie stuck out her tongue and reached back through the hatch to grab her overcoat. Clover Ewing, eat your heart out!

My urban fantasy thriller books feature the modern-day remnant of an ancient clan of werecats, torn apart as militaries on three continents vie to exploit their deadly talents, are the books I had in my heart to write--the books I wanted to *read* and couldn't find. Now the series is complete!

Three contemporary action fantasy books in the 'Forest Exiles' series by Mark J. Engels: Werecats Emergent, Werecats Convergent, and Werecats Resurgent. The covers depict the main female character Pawly in various story related garb, from the neck down, as she stalks toward the viewer with her arms held slightly out to either side. From elbow down, her forearms and hand grow fur, and her fingers are tipped with sharp talons.
