Baaaaaabaric happenings outside the kitchen window this evening. There was a good minute of bed-lamb before this video. Gonna miss this when I leave tomorrow. 🐑🐑🐑
Yesterday was "changeover day." I lost @gilloshaughnessy.bsky.social & @electrarhodes.bsky.social but I gained @claudiamonpere.bsky.social @dawnsteffler.bsky.social & @kathrynsilverhajo.bsky.social There may have been train station music and dancing 😀
If you want 30 seconds of absolute joy, watch @gilloshaughnessy.bsky.social riding a zipline and then...😂😂😂
It’s so beautiful here. Thought you’d enjoy this pic from my morning walk 😍
Meanwhile, over on Facebook, apparently we're turning illness into a competition. BIG SIGH! (I'm not even friends with this person; not sure how he's able to comment?) Makes me all the more appreciative of all the amazingly lovely people out there in our writing community who just "get it" ❤️
Today I went to a willow weaving workshop. It was so much fun. Made a dragonfly for my garden.
Progress being made on the hypothetical micro craft book this afternoon. Mostly the progress is drawing pink flamingos and pirates and sailboats...
Oh my goodness. Look what goodies just arrived in the post. Thank you @lmbayley.bsky.social for such a lovely gift. ❤️ Brightened up my day.
I’ve started a collection of fridge magnets from writers across the world. A wonderful reminder of the brilliant and lovely people I’ve had the privilege of getting to know through my writing journey so far.
My May #CraftArticle is about "pond dipping", thinking about what we can learn from other artistic pursuits. It includes a new hybrid story / artwork from me that reimagines the Garden of Eden (slightly) - hope you'll give it a read: prattlefogandgravelrap.substack.com/p/pond-dipping
The last day of my new course today. It has been such a fascinating course to teach. Hope those who've been taking part have enjoyed it and gained lots of new techniques for editing their work. If you're intrigued, the next available dates are in October: www.mattkendrick.co.uk/the-editoria...
Facebook just reminded me what I was doing a year ago... So it feels appropriate that today's #GloriousWords are RISER (the "up" bits), TREADER (the bits you tread on), and WINDERS (steps that change direction). I also love the term BULLNOSE STEP which is one with a lip (usually at the bottom).
Laughing at myself because I've just finished writing the notes for my new editing course & they're *a bit* lengthy (27k 😬) Also funky videos (here's a teaser) & fun-filled exercises & other stuff. Interested? One place left in April. Running again in June: www.mattkendrick.co.uk/the-editoria...
I have promised cake. There will be people calling you “duck”. Sausage rolls? 🧐 Yorkshire is more about Yorkshire puddings. And yes, there WILL be writing. And also MAGIC!! Maybe even some music?
A wonderful thing. Today is the FIVE YEAR anniversary of my first ever #WriteBeyondTheLightbulb course. Can't quite believe it's been that long. So, so grateful to everyone who has taken one of the courses since then. There have been A LOT of you. Today I'm starting course number FORTY!!!!
Things that are bringing me joy this year number 28. I made it to the theatre for the first time in 10 years!!! So much joy in listening to music live. Went to see Molotov Jukebox who are fab!
Things that are bringing me joy this year number 22. I finished knitting my scarf!!!! So proud of this. For a beginner knitter, I don’t think this is that shabby.
Things that are bringing me joy this year number 15. Reading some brilliant novels. Favourites from the year include The Expansion Project, Yellowface, Orbital, and a Luminous Republic. Also loved The Ministry of Time (not pictured). What about all of you?
Things that are bringing me joy this year number 12. This sign that seems to promise a more water-based Christmas than usual. MER CHRISTMAS all 🧜♂️🧜♂️🧜♂️
Things that are bringing me joy this year number 10. Baking stuff I can’t actually eat. Yes, they’re homemade custard creams. Yes, that’s a chocolate hot air balloon. I like to take baking to the extreme 😂
Things that are bringing me joy this year number 5. The joy of growing things, especially my heritage carrots and purple cauliflower 🥕🫑🍅🥬
I've taken the reins for this month's #Mondettes - it's my end-of-year round-up of some of my favourites from 2025, also known as the MAFFIAS!!! mondettes.substack.com/p/december-2...
I did. Never quite know what I’m doing but I dabble. Started a new piece this morning:
