The White House is treating children’s lives as disposable by bypassing court orders and unlawfully terminating these grants, but we will do whatever it takes to protect our kids and secure the funds they were promised,” said Attorney General Nessel.

“Falsifying water safety and discharge tests can jeopardize public health. While thankfully residents were not harmed in this particular instance, EGLE relies on accurate data to identify problems before they become threats to communities. My office will continue working with them to protect Michiganders and hold accountable those whose actions could compromise our water,” said Attorney General Nessel at the time the defendants pled.

“With the Independence Day holiday and our country’s 250th anniversary upon us, Michigan consumers should be able to trust that the fireworks on store shelves at least comply with Michigan law.

Whenever handling fireworks, safety must be the top concern, and if retailers ignore these laws to sell excessively loaded fireworks, that puts the public at an increased risk of harm. This advisory bulletin is a critical measure to protect our backyard celebrations and block parties from turning into an unexpected trip to the emergency room. My office will continue working with LARA and BFS to ensure our state’s laws are strictly enforced so that families can celebrate the holiday safely,” said Attorney General Nessel.
