But who are they thinking to when they talk about about #irregularmigrants? We tested a series of scenarios to gauge some insights on what respondents saw as the main routes into #irregularity. I give you a table this time, sorry it is pretty dense, but it's worth it ;)
actually 2 points. First, given the 'size' of the population, are people concerned? yes, 70% of respondents see it a concern for the UK - younger respondents much less so.
Over 70% of the respondents overestimated the number of irregular migrants. Funny fact: Conservative voters after years of being bombarded with #stoptheboat slogans overestimate irregular migrants even more than Reform supporters. But it is not only about 'quantity'...
But it is not all about the economy. And when asked about the cultural contribution of migrants to the UK, the views are even more positive. Same pattern in terms of political affiliation and age, but difference between male and female respondents are more marked.
The main goal was to find out: What do Britons know and think about #irregularmigration and irregular migrants? But before going into this we asked about their views on #migration more broadly. The majority of Britons thinks immigrants contribute positively to the economy. But...
