A sci-fi and fantasy writer and former member of the Campaign Trail podcast who just happens to be a trans woman. She/her. The Last Jager out now : Links :
The Last Jager has now been out a month and I have to say I'm very pleased with the response. Thank you to everyone who's already left reviews on Goodreads and the 'zon. If you haven't already picked a copy up I've dropped the ebook price down to £0.99/$0.99 briefly, so grab it while it's hot!
Today is book launch day for *The Last Jager*, and it's also the first day of its blog tour! Thanks to #ZooloosBookTours for organising the tour.
It's Book Quote Wednesday #BookQW and this week's word is "knife". Not all knives are physical...
I dabbed some more paint on minis this week, specifically a couple of 28mm minis from Oathsworn's 'Heroines in Sensible Shoes' range. These are for my semiregular #PendragRPG game. #MiniaturePainting #TTRPG
A couple of weeks ago, I finally took up the old size 0 brush again and started #PaintingMiniatures for the first time in about a decade, and here's the result. Four 15mm #Laserburn minis for use in some Sci-Fi #TTRPG or other - probably Traveller. Maybe. They ain't perfect, but they'll do for now.
What's the cover art that got you started on the #ttrpg hobby? Here's mine:
The novella is done! Or the first draft is done, at least. Woot! Now comes the hard part ... editing! #AmWritingSciFi
Going into the weekend, my writing be like... (To be clear, I still have a short last chapter to write, but all being well I shall have the first draft of this novella finished this weekend. Yay!) #AmWritingSciFi
Except, Justine McNally (the defendant in R v McNally) is not trans. She is female but presented as male in order to engage in sex with a straight girl, thereby meeting the criteria of sex by deception. This is from Crown Prosecution Service's own guidelines.
Ah, it seems the original GIF was created at least as early as 2019, so based on that and the complexity of detail (you can see muscles moving in the palm of the hand, for example) I'm inclined to say not AI, just clever post-processing.
And finally, at 6:00pm you can find me taking part in a nerdy round of "Um, Actually..." with @joelcornah.bsky.social as quizmaster, and @stevenpoore.bsky.social and @hierath77.bsky.social as my fellow contestants.
This will be followed at 4:00pm by a discussion on the way certain authors do everything they can to avoid calling their clearly SFF work SFF. @justinarobson.bsky.social is moderating, with me, @joannechocolat.bsky.social, @annasmithspark.bsky.social, and @jainefenn.bsky.social as panellists.
My first panel is on Saturday at 11:00 and sees me moderating a discussion on British myths and legends, beyond the usual Arthurian tales that seem to get all the attention. Panellists will be Alicia Wanstall-Burke, @stevemchugh.bsky.social, @annasmithspark.bsky.social, and @grmatthews.bsky.social.
Three days until the Con they call Fantasy starts, and I shall be there. Yay! If you're there feel free to say hallo. 🙂 This year I'm on a few panels, but will be spending most of my time ignoring the Imposter Syndrome and having fun with friends, both old and new.
It does seem to be real, though this is only based on a very small snippet posted in an online review, so no context for how the story pans out. From what I've heard it appears that it's one he wrote when LDV was originally pitched back in the 70s, which would explain the IBM / Honeywell references.
If you see this, I invite you to post a picture from whatever device you are using without explanation.
Without downloading any new pics, what’s your energy going into 2024?
To those who observe or celebrate, a very Merry Christmas! May the day bring you all that you need, and may the future be bright and happy. xx
The Eagles have landed! These absolutely gorgeous models arrived yesterday from The Gerry Anderson Store, and I am so pleased with them. The detail is fantastic, and they will definitely be getting a place of honour as soon as I have a proper place to display them.
