Ocean Conservancy is working with you to protect our ocean from today’s greatest global challenges. Together, we create evidence-based solutions for a healthy ocean and thriving planet, forever and for everyone. Join us: OceanConservancy.org
We have fin-tastic news: Shark Week is here! 🦈🎉 @oceanconservancy.org is proud to team up with Warner Bros. Discovery during #SharkWeek to turn fascination into action for our ocean and planet: OceanConservancy.org/SharkWeek.
⚠️ This week, the Environmental Protection Agency (@usenvironment.bsky.social)made a dangerous move that will put countless Californians living in port communities at risk. Our statement: https://bit.ly/3RwFv1B
Our ocean is blue Not all fish have gills Ocean Conservancy’s Plastics Policy Hub is for advocates like you to advance ambitious plastics bills! 🔗 Check it out for #PlasticFreeJuly: https://bit.ly/4yy9ffb

No place on Earth is immune from microplastic pollution—and that includes our ocean. Take action for #PlasticFreeJuly and demand that Congress pass the Plastic Pellet Free Waters Act now: https://bit.ly/3TFUmaF 📸: Soeren Funk/Ocean Image Bank
Researchers even estimate that for a city with 1 million households, installing filters could capture up to 4 QUADRILLION microplastic fibers per year … that’s the equivalent of 47 MILLION T-SHIRTS' worth of microplastic fibers! 🤯
The scale of this problem is massive, but our response can be, too. Installing microplastic fiber filters on washing machines is a proven solution that can help address this source of microplastic pollution. Filters have been shown to reduce microplastic fiber emissions by up to 90%! 📉
🚨Single-use plastics were designed to be used once and then thrown away. But there is no "away" for these items, many of which can’t be recycled and ultimately end up in our ocean. But you have the power to make a difference this #PlasticFreeJuly! Join us: https://bit.ly/4awhFtg
It's the Fourth of July (AND Plastic Free July!) & we're celebrating by declaring independence from single-use plastics. 🇺🇸 🌊 If the U.S. phased out plastic cigarette butts, bags, straws, foodware & cutlery, we'd cut 1.4 MILLION tons of plastic annually—equivalent to 6,600 Statues of Liberty! 🗽 🎆
🛍️It's #PlasticFreeJuly and #InternationalPlasticBagFreeDay, and our ocean needs ALL of us now more than ever. Every plastic bag you skip is one less piece of plastic that could end up in our ocean. Together, we can make a difference. Our ocean can't wait. Drop a 🌊 below if you're in!
It’s summer in the U.S., and temperatures are rising even more than usual, thanks to climate change. 🌡️ As the temperature rises in the air, so does the temperature in our ocean—with devastating impacts. 📈 bit.ly/3SDTMtL
Your laundry basket is hiding a boatload of one of the most common—and insidious—types of plastic pollution. 🔍 Microplastic fibers are #NotSafeForWash! 🚨 Microplastic fibers (AKA microfibers) make up more than 90% of microplastics ingested by marine wildlife. ⚠️ bit.ly/3Qyo80d
🚨 What’s buffering is NOT SAFE for our ocean. 🚨 Some of the most dangerous forms of pollution aren’t always obvious, yet pose huge risks to ocean and human health. Check back tomorrow as #PlasticFreeJuly begins to discover one of the most dangerous yet underestimated forms of plastic pollution! 👀

The Ocean Observatories Initiative is a vital screening tool for ocean health with sensors & gliders tracking 200+ variables. Last week, Congress blocked the administration's efforts to dismantle this important system. Our own Chris Robbins explains the reversal & why this data matters for us ALL.
It's officially the first day of summer in the United States! ☀️ 🌊 As millions across the country head to their favorite beaches and outdoor spots, we're sharing four tips for preserving our marvelous marine ecosystems while enjoying all they have to offer this summer: https://bit.ly/4vhYmw8
Happy Father's Day to all the fathers and father-figures out there, above and below our ocean's surface! 🌊 🫶 In honor of this special day, we're highlighting 11 fabulous fathers with fins who are the anchors of their families. ⚓ Dive in for #FathersDay: https://bit.ly/4gioJxf
🐊 👀 Crocodiles have been around for 200+ million years, longer than dinosaurs. The saltwater crocodile is the largest reptile alive today and has the strongest bite of any creature measured, with a force of 3,700 pounds per square inch! Read more for World Crocodile Day: https://bit.ly/4ozkKyA
The bipartisan REUSE ACT would direct the EPA to examine reuse systems and their potential to reduce waste. Take a moment for World Sea Turtle Day and add your name to protect these iconic creatures: bit.ly/4ebWqzi
Last fall, @oceanconservancy.org-led research on plastic ingestion in wildlife found that more than 1/2 of the sea turtles studied had plastic in their digestive systems at the time of their deaths. To stop the global plastics problem, we must make fewer plastics AND expand reuse systems.
🐢 It's World Sea Turtle Day! 🐢 We're spending today (and let's be honest, most days!) celebrating sea turtles. And now more than ever, these beloved animals need our help: bit.ly/4ebWqzi
Join Team Ocean and take action with the U.S. SailGP Team, GGGI and Ocean Conservancy to fight the most dangerous plastic pollution in our ocean: takeaction.oceanconservancy.org/page/186515/...
Last week, @oceanconservancy.org had the awesome opportunity to join U.S. SailGP Team's Hans Henken for a tour of Bureo. This California-based facility collects and recycles end-of-life fishing gear and turns the materials into new, everyday products, and a Global Ghost Gear Initiative partner.
Our ocean is warming. Coral reefs are bleaching. Seabirds are starving. A super El Niño is moving in the Pacific. Right now, there is a "cold blob" in the North Atlantic. No, this doesn't mean climate change is slowing down. It's an alarming sign for our planet. 🌍: Ben Noll/The Washington Post
When you donate before midnight, your gift will be MATCHED up to $30K—doubling the impact on our ocean. Donate now to help protect marine life, restore critical habitats and support people working on the front lines of ocean conservation: bit.ly/43niaSt 📸: Dylan Dehaas
