Thank you to everyone who joined today's Q&A on the @blueactionfund.org Call for Proposals "Mangroves, Blue Carbon Markets, and 30x30 in Asia". We enjoyed the great discussion and thoughtful questions. We look forward to receiving your applications!🌿
Much of the discussion around #BlueCarbon focuses on climate mitigation and carbon markets. Could there be another perspective? What if blue carbon were also viewed as a mechanism to help finance the long-term management of MPAs & coastal ecosystems - and in doing so, contribute to #30x30?
Great to join this year’s @nabu.de Salon! Had some great exchanges with the regional teams driving grassroots conservation in 🇩🇪. Also encouraging to see #30x30 feature prominently in the opening panel, a goal closely linked to @blueactionfund.org. And I even won a book in the quiz. Thanks!
Representing @blueactionfund.org at today’s “Turning Tides” event organised by Boris Hermann & Malizia, KPMG and Zurich Insurance.
Great exchange yesterday on EbA in Berlin. We showcased how @blueactionfund.org investments are delivering for climate action as part of #30x30. Thanks for strong inputs from @oceanweigand.bsky.social, @rare.org, @wwf.de, @bmz.de, and others.
Looking forward to tomorrow’s event on #EbA in Berlin 🇩🇪. Excited for discussions on the role of oceans & coasts in climate action and to see @oceanweigand.bsky.social presenting @blueactionfund.org's work on financing coastal & marine conservation in support of #30x30 🌊 Co-organised with ODK & ZUG.
175 artificial reef reef balls were deployed in Tanzania 🇹🇿. They create habitats, support coral settlement, enhance biodiversity, & strengthen resilience against storms & overfishing. Project implemented by @mwambao.bsky.social & @faunaflora.bsky.social, funded by @blueactionfund.org.
🚤 Two brand-new community boats from our #BlueBijagós project have arrived in the Bijagós Islands, Guinea-Bissau 🇬🇼! They will help bring children to school, patients to clinics, and women’s goods to mainland markets. Project implemented by PRCM and funded by @blueactionfund.org.
Sustho Sagar (Healthy Ocean) project inception workshop held today in Bangladesh, led by @wcs.org & WorldFish. Ministries, agencies, academia and fishers stressed collaboration to strengthen the country’s MPAs. Funded by @blueactionfund.org
Great to see @wcs.org and Mwambao Coastal Community Network come together in Tanga, Tanzania for a joint lessons-learned workshop — funded by @blueactionfund.org. #OceanOptimism
MPA Ranger Station in Pemba 🇹🇿 — before and after restoration. Visible results in marine conservation are not always easy to show, so here’s a positive example: supporting infrastructure enabling monitoring of the adjacent MPA. #OceanOptimism implemented by @wcs.org, funded by @blueactionfund.org.
Thanks to @rare.org & @conservationorg.bsky.social for organising interesting webinar on enabling conditions for financing conservation of blue carbon ecosystems. Some good insights on community-led project design - highly relevant for our future work on blue carbon at @blueactionfund.org.
Looking for input from the #SmallScaleFisheries community 👇 In one of our @blueactionfund.org projects, fishers use boats with no permanent power supply. Makes it difficult to improve surveillance, using GPS, etc.. ➡️ Anyone come across practical solutions for powering GPS devices in such contexts?
In Tanzania 🇹🇿 , Mwambao’s MKUBA Eco-Credit Program empowers women with business skills to grow enterprises and lead in marine conservation, boosting incomes and protecting coasts, with support from @blueactionfund.org
Some memories from @blueactionfund.org project visit to Bijagós last year, one of the last matriarchies on Earth, rich in biodiversity and culture. So proud to see it now listed as a #WorldHeritage site. Huge kudos to our partners and the IBAP team! 🇬🇼🌊 #OceanOptimism

Es ist schön, dass ich immer noch von Leuten bezüglich meiner damaligen Arbeit mit Seegurken angeschrieben werde. Eine so rührende Anfrage wie diese habe ich allerdings noch nie erhalten...
