Yesterday I received the final result of my commission of my PC Devahna (right) and their partner, Dagon (left, @tanfighter.bsky.social's NPC) and AAA 🥺 The details are so good, down to Devahna not making direct eye contact (they're autistic). Thank you @karaverna.bsky.social!! I love it ❤️

Devahna is a femme presenting plus-size half-orc with light green skin and long curly white hair, copper eyes and freckles, wearing a red and blue long sleeved top. Dagon is a male fallen aasimar with dark grey skin, white hair reaching to his jaw, a slight stubbled goatee and piercing gold eyes, wearing a breastplate and a thick leather jacket.

Devahna and Dagon rest their foreheads against each other, Dagon's eyes fixated on Devahna, his lips slightly parted. Devahna's gaze doesn't quite meet Dagon's, but they're comfortable being in his space. Behind them is a looming smoke-filled sky from the city that is on fire near them, and it casts a red glow over them. They know a dangerous battle lies ahead, so they want to take a moment to be close.

Yesterday I was informed that Google’s AI uses the wrong pronouns for me. My email signature lists my pronouns but it just saw my name and made an assumption. Also, it went through the pdf file I sent, as it (wrongly) listed the deadline for signing in the summary. I hate AI so much y’all 🫠

Honestly this is just me whenever I want to make anything. I always have to remind myself that for every second I doubt myself, there is a man out there with too big of an ego making mediocre things and acting like he’s a genius. Always make the thing!! (And also your videos are great <3)

I commissioned my friend Joep (who has no socials) to draw my PC Devahna after getting inspired by this Undertale style “then vs now” post. He did such a wonderful job but also 😭😭 my poor baby. They’re truly going through it. Genuinely my most tragic character.

Last year I wrote a poem. Yesterday I made some art for it. I couldn’t pick between black or white but I think they both look cool 👀

i was born with my heart in my hands. that is no way to live, the doctors said, so they stitched it onto my chest. when it pumps, blood trickles down my arm and it alerts the hounds. they bark don't bite but their barks bite still. i wear it on my sleeve, i fear. the cologne they like. i walk the earth with my heart exposed and yet i am called weak. i feel and feel and my tears taste of metal and salt but it does not shape into armour. why am i not brave? i wear no breastplate, do you not see the wounds i healed from? is that not strength, to be hurt but trust that love will fix you? how will radiance reach my beating heart if it is kept in the dark of my ribcage?

the hounds do not answer. they only smell blood.

Heading: Positive changes I've seen after talking about my autism

Body text: People came to realise they might be autistic after hearing me talk about it, and got later got diagnosed.
Fellow autistic people felt less alone in a group setting after I mentioned being autistic.

Heading: So why do I talk about my autism so much?

Body text: Because after 20+ years, I still encounter the same kind of prejudice I did when I was a child.

Because misinformation harms me and other autistics.

Because I want to change people's perspective on autism, so there's more understanding and acceptance.

Heading: But mostly, I do it for her.

Body text: So other autistics don't have to feel as lonely and ashamed as she did growing up. So they don't have to feel like they have no autonomy. Like there's no one who understands them. I do it to be the safe haven she needed. Because she deserved better. All of us do.

Body text: I do not claim to speak for all autistics. I'm sharing personal experiences and encourage people to listen to the voices of other autistics too, especially those who are multiple marginalised.
I've oversimplified certain things for the sake of ease.

Body text: I also tell them that if you know one autistic person, you know one autistic person. There's no single representative for all of us, and the kind of support we need is different for each individual. But there are two things we would all benefit from: a willingness for people to educate themselves, and to listen to autistic voices across the entire spectrum.

Heading: A different way of looking at autism

Body text: If you look at how autism is described in the DSM-5, most of what you'll see makes it sound like there's something wrong with us. I disagree. Autism means the brain processes information differently. This can be social, verbal or sensory information. It's not wrong, it's different. Understanding this helps people understand us.

Heading: "you are more than your autism, you know?"

Body text: Is usually what people say when they've heard me give this talk a few times, and I hate it. My autism is a core part of who I am. My brain processes information differently, meaning my perception of the world, the people in it, and how I interact with those things are shaped by my autism. As such, I am my autism. It's just not all that I am. That's where the difference lies.

Body text: The examples I just mentioned are specific to my experiences. I'm an autistic person who can function independently with low support, was diagnosed young and has a supportive environment. I'm able to speak, I have no intellectual disabilities, and I'm white. Despite all the ways in which my autism disables me, the ableism I experience can be called mild.

Body text: Autistic people with higher support needs, autistic people of colour, autistic people with intellectual disabilities, and those who are non-speaking (among other things) are affected even more so by the ableism that comes from stereotypes, misinformation and lack of understanding. April is Autism Acceptance Month, and April 2nd is Autism Acceptance Day. So I wanted to post something personal. I was 10 when I first held a presentation about autism, and over time autism education became something very important to me. This thread makes an attempt at explaining why. (1/4)

Heading: When I was five I got diagnosed with autism.
Body text: And I have been talking about it ever since. Not because I think it's particularly interesting, but because from a very young age I understood that people had the wrong idea about what it means to be autistic.

And so I took it upon myself to do something about that.

Heading: "but why do you care what others think?"
Body text: Because misconceptions about autism harms autistic people. It prevents us from getting the help we need, from people spotting when a child is autistic (causing late diagnosis), and from people taking us seriously.

I care because I have both seen and felt the damage misconceptions do.

Heading: Things that have been said to me
Body text: “You don't look autistic” - what does this even mean? What does autism look like to you?

“You're so social for an autistic person!” - why do you think I can't be?

“You live independently? That's impressive!” - why is it impressive?

One way I try and increase trans visibility in the TTRPG space is by making different kind of trans/nonbinary characters. #TDOV Recent examples are: 1. Lowen (he/they) - intersex + nonbinary 2. Devahna (they/she) - demigender 3. Kiki (she/they/any) - genderfluid 4. Cyanna (she/they) - transfeminine

Lowen is a masculine presenting blue skinned hellspawn with long white hair, horns that curl backwards, pointed ears, black eyes, several piercings, and scales on the back of their arms. They wear a white button up with black suspenders.

Devahna is a femme presenting half-orc with light green skin, long wavy white hair, golden eyes, freckles, pointed ears, and tusks coming through a soft smile. They wear a simple blue top.

Kiki is a changeling with white skin and a green bob. They wear very colourful patchwork clothes and have a jester aesthetic going on. In one hand she's casting a spell while the other makes a peace sign near her face.

Cyanna is a femme presenting lizardfolk with blue-green scales and pastel pink and green attire. She has specks of white across her face and arms and holds a few cards.

I ended up listening to twenty one pilots last night and suddenly got an idea for an art piece, so I immediately started making it. Within an hour this was the result. It’s a reminder how my issues are permanent but the lows are not. There will be highs too. I just gotta wait for it to get better.

Graveyards are meant to be a final resting place, but all
too often, undead blaspheme against the natural order. As
a Gravedigger, you are devoted to keeping the dead in the
ground where they belong. You have learned to master the
elements of earth and spirit and bend them to your will. You
are motivated by your connection to death and undeath.
Perhaps you worked as a graveyard keeper, witnessed a
loved one become undead, or put people into an early
grave by your own hands, something you wish to atone for.
Whatever the reason may be, you believe necromancy is a
vile kind of magic that disrupts the peace of the departed,
and have spent years of your life learning how to fight back
against it.
