My final game last night was a look at a prototype of the upcoming Above the Trenches: The Fokker Scourge 1915-1917 from Flying Pig Games coming to Kickstarter this fall. This is a 2-player aerial dogfighting wargame that combines tactical, operational, and strategic elements.

Next up was the upcoming Korean Tide from Compass Games. I played against the designer Greg Smith and frankly took him to the woodshed with the Chinese. A great addition to the Tide Series.

We ended Day 3 playing The Adventures of Conan from Gale Force Nine, which is an asymmetric, semi-coop dice game of exploration, sorcery and glorious combat set in the Hyborian age. We bounced off this one hard. Poor rules, lack of structure and little clarity, which is a shame.

2nd game of Day 3 here at WBC is Coalitions: Realpolitik from PHALANX.

1st game of Day 3 here at WBC is World Order from Hegemonic Project Games. This game seems to be very popular here as I’ve seen it being played 5 or 6 times.

Picked back up with our game of GTS Where Eagles Dare and The Devil’s Cauldron from MMP. I have been assigned to command the area around Eindhoven/Best/Son and to eliminate the few pockets of German resistance and move our armor north. Great fun. Very much enjoy this system.

Saw this in-design game in action here at WBC called Operational Warfare System After Stalingrad designed by Antony Birkett. Think modern mechanics being brought to the Operational Combat System in Tony’s words.

Saturday afternoon solitaire gaming. Race to Tunis: A WWII Roll & Write from Solo Wargame. Enjoying this one. Lite. Fun. Challenging. Plays in 25 minutes. Everything you want in a good solo experience.

Last night we ended the evening by playing Warfighter War from Dan Verssen Games. Same tried and true Warfighter system at a new scale (strategic) with new mechanics, new focus on supply and new more intelligent hostiles. Tough tough game. But very good!

What a great game! Classic system with lots of great maneuver and need to keep open an avenue of retreat for units in combat. Lived it! Napoleon at War Deluxe Edition from Decision Games.
