Apples from our heirloom tree in the back yard: before and after. Can't believe they're ripe already.
I love the mirabelle plum tree in our yard but this year the squirrels again got to the (unripe) fruit before I did. Did have just enough for this one jar of jam. Hate squirrels.

This 2007 novel by Ann Patchett is a wonderful companion piece to Lisa Moore's This is How We Love. Each examines with compassion alternative visions of family, each demands we see the good in others. Another recommended read for those needing to have their faith in humanity restored.
Oh just re-read this exquisite book by Newfoundland's Lisa Moore for my book club. Can't recommend highly enough. If you need your faith in humanity restored, this is the novel for it.
