Goddess Athena! Absolutely incredible! Memory, totems, homecomings, the consequences of brilliant ideas and toll of lost connections. Nolan’s entire filmography exists within this gift of a film. An ancient text imagined with contemporary anti-war, anti-isolationist relevance.
This has always been the case. “Go Woke, Get Broke” has always been clownish untruth. No movie has ever failed because of Black folks, POC, LQBTQ+, or women. There are a myriad of other reasons why some movies fail to connect. But bigoted chuds don’t have that kind of power.
Now rewatching: Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) Dir. Jon Watts *With the kids.
Post-Burn #EvilDead ranking. There are no bad entries!! #EvilDeadBurn
Watched The Sheep Detectives with my kids. Daughter, exasperated, 30 minutes in: “just let it go already! He’s already dead!” Son figured out the killer during the will reading scene (as did I). They liked it though and said they’d watch a sequel. Nice family movie.
Now rewatching: Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) Dir. Jon Watts* *The kids are continuing their Spidey journey!
Fango’s Summer Issue! Evil Dead Burn! Camp Miasma! Onslaught! Hellraiser! And I talk to Jacob Chase about Insidious: Out of the Further and how his history of making haunts played into the film’s scariest sequences! Thanks @mereborders.bsky.social @jasonkauz.bsky.social @philnobilejr.bsky.social
Now watching: Minions & Monsters (2026) Dir. Pierre Coffin* *Younglins wanted to go, and it’s hot as fuck out so as couple hours of air conditioned amusement was in order.
Now watching: Strung (2026) Dir. Malcolm D. Lee Yes, yes, I know. Maybe it’ll be funny?
