OK while I'm on defense about hifi aesthetics: The only speakers I might prefer to the Carvers are Bowers and Wilkins 800 series speakers, which sometimes show up for manageable prices used. But MK thinks they look like penises wearing another penis as a hat and have no place in a living room.

Winding down this rainy day at the hi-fi shop. Highly recommend becoming friends with people who run shops like these because then you can just go listen to your favorite music for two hours on 30k sound systems and then go home.

Oh I am so pleased we could alert you. I am not sure what kind of cutting board you have but these have been godsends for me. It might take a few passes with the oil if your board is a bit neglected, but they’ll make your board glow and the stick seals it in nicely.

Parents are visiting. This is one of their favorite albums and I found an unopened original copy for a surprisingly low price (an “undesirable” pressing I think, even mint). It sounds AMAZING. May not last super long, the record is super light and thin, but it knocked their socks off.

We inherited a long abandoned garden. Today we brought in its sinister harvest.

Glad I was at least able to express some of my admiration and appreciation when Patrick and I met him following an historic Bulls loss a couple years ago. He and Adam were a great broadcasting partnership and incredibly generous with everyone who came by to talk.

Okay so Rocky 2 is way better than I heard but it’s also the most, “I know writers who use subtext” movie ever made.

A haunting composition of Rocky’s wife Adria isolated in recursive frames of the film, the walls of the room, and the bannister and baseboards of the stairs leading up to the bedroom Rocky has abandoned to take up fighting again. She stands like a statue of the Madonna, barred by the railing at the landing of the stairs. We are reminded of the stakes of Rocky’s decision by her navy shirt with the word BABY on it. An arrow points down at her stomach like an accusation from Truth herself.

Is this copy of Ghost Writer by Garland Jeffreys a Treasure of the Record Store or a Vinyl Folly? The front and back cover art is already doing a lot for me tbh.
