There is a “Marginal Risk” (green) and a “Slight Risk” (yellow) for severe weather this evening and overnight. Storms will be possible this morning and afternoon across much of Nebraska, but the main threat will come out of South Dakota around sunset, then pushes SE overnight.
A Severe T-storm Watch is in place for much of western Nebraska through 11pm MDT Monday, August 10, 2026.
A Severe T-storm Watch is in place for much of western Nebraska. A line of storms will move from west to east through midnight and may have damaging wind and some hail. This should diminish in strength as it moves in to central Nebraska.
Severe T-Storm Warnings are in place for Boone county until noon and Madison and Platte counties until 1215pm Saturday, August 8th. 60 mph wind gusts and small hail is possible with these storms as the move east southeast at 50 mph.
The weekend forecast highs across Nebraska: August 8-9, 2026 Hot both days for the western half of Nebraska. Warm on Saturday and hot on Sunday for the eastern half. Storm chances each day!
Storms are possible Thursday afternoon and evening in NW Nebraska. Hail and damaging wind are possible out of this storm.
The Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been expanded and now includes the counties of: Burt, Douglas, Sarpy, and Washington as well as a few counties in Iowa. The entire watch is in place through 1am.
A Severe T-Storm Watch is in place for western parts of Nebraska through 9pm CDT and eastern parts of Nebraska through 1am CDT. Damaging wind is the main concern with these storms, but some hail and quick spin up tornadoes are possible, as well.

Weather models show a strong line of storms moving from north central Nebraska into SE Nebraska Thursday afternoon into the overnight. Not everyone will see severe weather with these storms, but if you get under one of the strong storms, damaging wind would be the main concern

For the first time in over a year, Lincoln is at 100 degrees. As of 3pm Monday, July 20th. Last time was June 21, 2025.
HEAT ADVISORY and EXTREME HEAT WARNING: July 20, 2026 Temperatures will be in the low 100s for most of the state and with added humidity, the heat index will be in the 105 to 110 degree range. Heat illnesses may happen if precautions aren't taken.

We have one more day with strong to severe weather possibilities before we dry up for quite a while. This area REALLY needs rain, so hopefully we see some tonight and can dodge the severe part of it.

Might hit triple digits out west, but most of us will be in the 90s Tuesday. Storm chances stay out west, too.
