I haven't been able to trap much lately due to work commitments. I did trap last night and found very little this morning. I potted three moths: an unknown micro that escaped, an Ancylis badiana NFY, and a Dusky Sallow because I disliked the photo I took of one recently. #teammoth

Finding a new garden moth in my trap this morning was a godsend. It was a disappointing trap until I came across this Bulrush Wainscot hidden beneath a Dark Aches. This is my second new Wainscot for the garden, the first being Mere Wainscot. #teammoth

After a six-day break from trapping, I was disappointed when I opened the trap this morning. Given the overnight temperatures, I expected more. It wasn't all bad, though, because I did get an NFG moth: Bulrush Wainscot. NFY: Yellow-tail, Scalloped Oak, Mother of Pearl, and P. farinalis. #teammoth

A Silver Y feeding on a Nicotiana flower this evening. I haven't trapped since Friday night. While I was away for four days, I had planned to trap at an Airbnb, but it turned out that the owner suffers from mottephobia. I had no idea that was a thing. 🙄 #teammoth

Two NFG moths from this morning's trap: Blastodacna hellerella and Yponomeuta padella. The latter is only NFG because I ignored Yponomeuta moths last year. NFY: Sm. Mottled Willow, Vapourer, Ruby Tiger, Dusky Sallow, Double Sq. Spot, Lesser YU, C. unitella, H. costalis, and P. fraxinella. #teammoth

Another shot of the NFG Varied Coronet from the other day. Before letting it go, I tried to photograph it at night, but all it did was walk across the entire fern leaf before settling on the exact object I was attempting to avoid including in the photo. 🙄 #teammoth

I was very happy to see this July Highflyer NFY in the trap yesterday. I rarely photograph these #moths because I seldom see them in good condition. But I had no issues with this one. It's also green, which is always good thing. #teammoth

I was pleased to add Varied Coronet to the garden moth list this morning. There were two in the trap, one a little more shabby than the other. I began photographing the shabby one first and was slightly disappointed, but then I moved on to this beauty and my mood changed. #teammoth

While strolling around Paull Holme Strays NR yesterday, I saw my first Six-spot Burnet, which was extremely tatty. A prime candidate for the hashtag #tattymothchallenge. #teammoth

This morning, the trap had about 220/55 moths. The highlight was two Varied Coronets NFG, who I didn't know existed until a few weeks ago. NFY: White Satin Moth, E. lacustrata, Box-tree Moth, A. straminella, Smokey Wainscot, July Highflyer, Beautiful Hook-tip, C. splendana, B. adustella. #teammoth

I hadn't trapped in a few days, so I was pleased to find an NFG micro resting on a sunflower leaf today. The sunflower was growing among many Achillea plants, which supported the moth's identification as Dichrorampha vancouverana. I wish it was always so easy. #teammoth

In my wildlife garden last night, I spotted a sleeping Red-tailed bumblebee by torchlight. There appear to be some phoretic mite "hitchhikers" on the bee, but they're completely harmless. They simply use the bee to travel from one location to another. #bumblebees #wildlifegarden #savethebees #bees

A few days ago, a Lackey moth spent the entire day on the flower buds of a Tansy plant. Even in direct sunlight, when most moths seek cover when they feel the sun on them, it stayed put. Thankfully, no bird spotted it. #teammoth

Last night, the Silver Ys were back in action. And their numbers seem to be increasing. It's only a matter of time before Gold Spots appear. They, like the Silver Ys, usually turn up in multiples to feed on #wildflowers. #teammoth #wildlifegarden #moths #pollinators
