Last week, I did an interview with the folks at The RPG Gazette, chatting with Serban Ionita and Horia Marchean for over two hours about Mage, White Wolf, and many other things. That interview's online now, in both a full audio version and a heavy trimmed and summarized text version. Links below.
Hardware is a thousand times better than a low-budget cyberpunk slasher film ripped off from Metal Hurlant magazine has any right to be.
I would love to see a 21st-century take on Dr. Glitternight, Atlas, or - especially relevant these days - the Hangman or Sarnak, Master of Sound.
Let's be honest - Snoopy gives big ol' 'tism vibes, too.
Linus, Marcie and Schroeder were autistic before most folks knew what autism is.
Happy Gotcha Day for Pixel and Hex, who joined our household three years ago today. I can't recall a single earnest spat between them, ever, and they still snuggle like kittens even as adults.
A HAPPIEST OF ALL POSSIBLE BIRTHDAYS to my Belovedest, @damianaswan.bsky.social! We met 19 years ago next week and have been essential to each other ever since. Brave, beautiful, and badass as hell, Damiana Silverwitch brings her magic to a world that desperately needs it. I love you so damn much.💜
#FantasyIndiesApril 17: I tend to read three to five books at a time, cycling through them depending on my mood, circumstances, and the density of the material. When finishing one, I choose the next one either by mood or - if it's research - topic. #WritingCommunity #amwriting #writer #fantasy #wip
I say this as someone who worked at bookstores during Pottermania and was delighted to see so many young people eager to read: FUCK your boy-wizard nostalgia. And FUCK ever again devoting another sliver of time or money to this psychotic wealthy ghoul.
#FantasyIndiesApril 15: Hardcopy books. I have plenty of books on Kindle and PDF, but as much as I appreciate being able to pull up a book to read on my phone while standing in line somewhere, I find physical books easier to read and recall. #WritingCommunity #amwriting #writer #fantasy #wip
Thank you, Mary! My latest collection of horror and dark fantasy, Breaking the Devil's Bread, is available from @nightmarepress.bsky.social. My dark urban fantasy novel Red Shoes, and my collection Valhalla with a Twist of Lethe, are both available from Quiet Thunder. #HorrorWritersChat
Q2: #HorrorWritersChat Though I'm primarily known for my dark and urban fantasy work, I also write magical realism, RPGs, sword & sorcery, paranormal romance, erotica, various forms of horror, media reviews, music culture, political rants, historical overviews, and metaphysical nonfiction.
Ironically, the most "barbaric" period of European history kicks in during the mid-late 1400s and is largely outsourced to "colonies" by the 1700s. Rationalism and humanism emerge in reaction to the catastrophically baroque carnage of Europe's "rebirth" and "enlightenment."
#FantasyIndiesApril 14: Dari's appraisals are boastful yet self-depreciating. The Forever Bridge is a story she's relating to an audience, and she admits that she's embellishing that story while occasionally dropping into the truth. #WritingCommunity #amwriting #writer #fantasy #wip #wipwednesday
#FantasyIndiesApril 13: Hoo boy... The Forever Bridge cuts back and forth between Dari's adulthood and childhood, showing how she became the renegade she is. It's a dark origin story, but does not include SA. #WritingCommunity #amwriting #writer #fantasy #wip #wipwednesday
MAGA Christians love the Ten Commandments? Pop quiz: What are the first two of them?
"No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other." - Jesus Christ, Matthew 6:24 For additional context, this comes right after Jesus tells his followers not to show off in public and brag about their faith.

#FantasyIndiesApril 10: I began telling stories before I could write. Dad has a tape or two of me narrating the adventures of my dinosaur toys. I used to make "setups" out of models, Legos and plastic figures. The writing came later. #WritingCommunity #amwriting #writer #fantasy #wip #wipwednesday
I'm curious: Beyond grimdark, is there a fantasy equivalent of splatterpunk? Or is that just gory grimdark?
#FantasyIndiesApril 9: Darianna trusts only in herself, her skills, and her ability to get into and out of trouble. She DOES have a few friends, but Dari learned the hard way long ago how conditional such friendships can be. #WritingCommunity #amwriting #writer #fantasy #wip #wipwednesday
#FantasyIndiesApril 7: Dari's fond of cats, crows, sheep, dogs, horses and even rats. She's experienced with wolves, bears and goats, too, and respects them though she prefers to avoid them when possible. That said, she travels alone. #WritingCommunity #amwriting #writer #fantasy #wip #wipwednesday
#FantasyIndiesApril 6: Vergeharrow itself is a city built across a bridge spanning a titanic chasm. Dari, however, began as the shepherd daughter of a traveling player, and she inherited his restless ways. #WritingCommunity #amwriting #writer #fantasy #wip #wipwednesday
#FantasyIndiesApril 5: Travel is Darianna's lot whether she wants it to be or not. She's a wanderer at heart but, as her story shows, that wandering isn't always her preference. #WritingCommunity #amwriting #writer #fantasy #wip #wipwednesday
